I know we're all bored silly and desperate to talk hockey. Keep in mind that the next Sabres move that Ek gets right will be the first one. He has never had even an inkling into any Sabres moves.

That said, I really do think something will happen before camp (or maybe more specifically, before the CBS expires).

Now he did mention Brad Boyes

we already get A LOT of ppl from out of town at the games
if a waterfront stadium were top happen...
instead of staying for one night, many would stay for the entire weekend
they are adding to the waterfront,
plus you have all the downtown restaurants & the elmwood villiage...
ppl can even check out a Sabres game

think of how many ppl that moved away from buffalo would plan a trip home around a weekend they could catch a Sabres & Bills game right downtown...
i know ppl that do it already, and this would make it much more convenient...
no need to rent a car or figure out transportation
hoetel, BOTH stadiums, food & nightlife all within BLOCKS of each other...
now that's EXACTLY what we need down there!!!

Sports stadiums have never ever ever ever ever ever ever been proven to be an economic driver. Putting a new stadium downtown would be foolish.

Schumer apparently is trying to change the rules for borrowing from the NFL for building new stadiums.

So in a sense he is trying to help us a get that new stadium.

We have inadeqate facilities for conventions right now, and even conidering do a pretty good convention business in Buffalo do to our location and increasing travel costs. We are not fully tapping our potential.

i respectfully disagree
as one who bartended at a place near the stadium for 3 years,
i can tell you...
business went up exponentially...
not just on game days, but the entire weekend
and that was out in OP with NOTHING around there

move the location to DT,
where a lot is starting to happen and it will be quite a boost for the area
now of course, we're only talking maybe 10 weekends out of 52...
so i get your point that a stadium in and of itself will not "drive" the economy year round...

but it certainly wont hurt

More to the point, it will get people downtown. What they do down there after the game will depend on the options available

Disagree, and Washington, DC would be my case study. For years the Caps played outside the Beltway in a crappy arena in Landover with nothing around it. They move downtown to the new Verizon center (paid for entirely by Abe Polin the old owner) and the entire neighborhood for blocks around was transformed.

Not to sound rude or mean .... but i saw a video of him last year during the Bills hall of fame ceramony. I think Phil Hanson or someone was put on the wall ...... the video ralph could barely speak english, he looked terrible, and just overall not a good sign for him.

Voyager, Cassini, definitely awesome and not wastes. Launching and maintaining satelites, also great but has mostly fallen to the private sector.

Driving remote cars on Mars for the 5th time at 3 bil $ each trip. Waste. Sending humans there? Total waste.

Cool man. Lets build another footbal stadium instead. The US only has about 1,000 of them.
