I thoujght that was the other guy with the extra letters.

they really liked the guy's leadership. it was told to me they may consider. that is all. - Eklund
I have a very hard time seeing this happen. They've had Lilja, Bourdon, and Gustafsson all ready to fill the 5/6/7 slots, and have added Gervais. Also to consider is Brandon Manning, whose few performances for the big club were encouraging. That's five defensemen in our system to fill non-top 4 roles.
If the Flyers move for a defenseman, it has to be a top four defenseman. Sean O'Donnell just doesn't fit. |

I think Flames would want Kadri or Frattin in there 2. Then that's getting pricey for Leafs. - Big_Lightnin
you can leave kadri out of any trade. Make it one of Ashton/ Frattin/ colborne or blacker

Regher was a cancer in the room. In hindsight, the Flames should have kept Phaneuf and shipped out Regher. For years you heard about issues in the Flames room, last year not a peep.... and Regher was awful in Buffalo, too slow on bad knees.
Trading Regher was addition by subtraction - scoot174
Possibly, but got nothing in return for Regehr...who at the time of the trade was a solid d-man. |

Didn't we hear this same kiprusoff rumor last week from other actual informed sources, the same sources that have shot this rumor down. Amazing that Eklund just reads other peoples posts and then claims his sources told him this information. |

Or maybe Ballard & Raymond for Iggy, Cammy and a 1st... - BoBBeR56
Come on now, that is just being silly.
Canucks would prolly have to throw in a 2nd as well to make it fair. |

1. Leafs in need of a goalie. Check.
2. Kiprusoff is a goalie. Check.
3. Insert rumour. - JSC

very amusing and truly solid logic. I too am a goalie. Should I be heading to Toronto? In all seriousness, I dont know if the Leafs are serious about any of this on the goalie front. In fact I think the chances are greater they go with Scrivens who really impressed them in the Marlies run. I am simply reporting the rumors though... - Eklund
yes, please go play for toronto, dont worry there will be no pressure at all to make the playoffs
what will your name be though? pretty sure you cant use an anonymous name in the NHL you would have to go by your birthname, are you prepared to do that? |

those "hockeyyinsiderr" type of guys arent "actual informed sources"....
These guys have gotten lucky and have a huge following as they spew rumors all the time in hopes one becomes right then brags about it for days. Dont hear them talking about the 10 other ones they had wrong.
I also wrote about the Leafs possibly having interset in Kiprusoff last friday, but shot it down as I didnt feel the two teams could find common ground with respect to a trade. Thats how I feel, dosnt mean Burke/Feaster feel the same.
If you want to read it, click on the Flames logo above, its my blog from last week. |

It's a non starter, making that deal. It's on the same level as Luongo. Fading veteran with a large cap hit, with time on the contract.
Leafs are one of the youngest teams in the league, so why would they need a player that will only get worse, over the next 3 years? By then, the Leafs may be in a position to do something in the playoffs. Save the draft position, play the kids, recover your capspace and make your move, in free agency, next year.
Oh, one other thing. Flyers need D? Komisarek for a 5th rounder sounds about right. |

a cancer?
I doubt that. Phaneuf's cancer stories have way more legs then a regher one (never heard that before).
I think for regher it was an attempt at making things younger. |

Seeing as the Leafs were after Broudeur pretty hard, it makes sense for the leafs to get an experienced goalie to help the young team. |

Nice. Just some blah moves made by Feaster.
Regehr trade wasn't very good.
I still don't like the 1st round pick that he made this year.
Maybe he doesn't deserve the hate, but he does some off the board things (like Flames 1st rounder). - BoBBeR56
did you see Regehr play this year? 1 goal 4 assists -12 for 4 million dollars signed 3 more years. People love to hate on the flames
you don't have a clue about the first pick other than him not being ranked as high by people who can't get jobs in the NHL.
For the record Michel Goulet was really the man behind the Flames #1 pick this year and he knows a thing or two about hockey |

Isles to trade lubo to Philly for a 2nd and 3 rd round pick - rigger2.0
The Isles are not trading down about 20 spots in the second round just to pick up a late third rounder. That's essentially what happens with this deal. Discussions start with Philly's 1st round pick. |

wow you are referencing two teams I didn't even mention....all that said, hard to argue the olympics are a solid watch. - Eklund
Ek, I was joking my man. I wanted to make the joke before someone else did. lol. I'm just pullin your chain. And yes, the Olympics have been awesome. |

Flames are not trading Kipper for draft picks right now...they didn't just sign high priced UFAs to let their best player go for nothing that helps the team now. Anyone that says Kipper is "fading" hasn't seen him play lately.
If they have a poor season trading him at the deadline could be a possibility along with many others |

The hockey insiders I am talking about work for TSN and other sources that I would say have pretty informed knowledge. The fact that at least 2 bloggers on this site also posted blogs about the leafs and kiprusoff in the last couple of days, says a ton about Eklunds "sources" - Mystery
Not at all. For one, Eklund was away on vacation and advised his followers his phone would essentially be off. Secondly, any "reporting" of the Leafs being interested was mere speculation, and has been followed up by a few sources to have been legitimate discussions, Ek being one of them.
I write for Eklunds website, and if I hear discussions regarding the Flames, I will write about how I feel about it. Regardless of what I, or other bloggers write, there may be plenty of discussions going on between teams, and we visit this site to debate them. Just because two teams are talking, dosnt mean something is about to happen.
No need to argue back and forth about credibility etc, the information is posted by Ek, if you choose to believe it or not thats up to you.
Cheers. |
