yea I'm done with that, it hasn't worked in almost 40 years, time to do something different. Hang in there ride it out. The panic move operating procedure needs to be scrapped.

MAB & Gus have talent but since they didn't get that much ice time & play in all that many game we don't truly know what they are capable of doing, I'd like to see that, maybe they step up and not have to do anything.

Vishnovsky cost the Islanders a 2nd so it would be the same price. I'd rather go for a lesser free agent for 1 year and give up nothing or just go with the kids and finally see what they can do.
- ob18

Id rather keep the pick. This team doesn't have a small window to win it all. Blowing a 2nd for a player for one year is a waste. Face it, a player like Vis isn't going to get us anywhere.

at this point I don't see why not, we arent exactly losing out on Weber by folding this hand. See whats out there later on. The trade landscape is always changing.

Yup our system might have something with those 2 & they aren't breaking the bank & are under contract.

Dont we have Lilja, Gervais, MAB, and Gus for our final two spots?

Granted, at times they may suck. But why the need to sign someone now?

I've always maintained that patience should be the key. We have an elite player with G. Deep forwards. Grossmann looked great before his injury, and like a steaming pile after. Timmo is Timmo. Coby can be a beast. Schenn....step up son.

Things arent bad. We beat the snot out of a Cup favored Pens team while not healthy. We will be fine. Just fine.

Same problem as last year. Six bridesmaids dont mean jack if theres no bride.

The Flyers D problem isn't their 3rd pairing. Its the matchups their 1st D pairing will have to make and the trickle down.

this has got to be the holy grail of trade mysteries this summer because the answer does seem truly unattainable.

Quebec - Meet W. Brett Wilson.

Quebec "Hi Brett"

Wilson "So sorry you don't have a hockey team"

Quebec "Don't worry, we will have yours soon"

Wilson "I have 2 Billion that says otherwise"

Quebec "Oh, Maybe we should look at another team"

Yeah, because a billionaire will be happy to keep losing millions of dollars every year. It's awesome to assume that rich people have no trouble footing the bill for a venture that shows no signs of breaking even, when there are viable options to relocate it somewhere it won't.

The Predators financial difficulties have been well documented. It's not outrageous to suggest that they may not be a viable option in Nashville for long, unless things change.

The more I look at the FA defensemen, there's really nobody out there who replaces Meszaros. That means a trade. Looking at the trade possibilities, unless they go for the home run, I'd rather stand pat and see what the kids can do.

They could easily end up trading valuable assets for a guy who would be no better than Gustafsson

And you of course have a few links to share that show the financial difficulties of the Predators right? And not just a link that says hockey revenue but combined investment revenue. B/c here is the truth. Nashville lost b/w 5-7 million last year on hockey revenue depending on what site you use. And that factored in about 3 million in extraordinary costs associated with improvements to the arena and boards. However, they made 15 million on non hockey revenue. i.e., non hockey events at the arena. Keep in mind the Bridgestone arena is the 5th busiest arena in the country.

And lets face it... coming off of their most successful season ever, losing out on one of their franchise d-men, and not really doing much of anything to improve the team this offseason.. well... really doesnt bode well for them.

Its a shame because Nashville really had an out from cash strapping themselves with Weber, and a way to really turn their franchise in the right direction.. but they puffed their collective chests out...

A little more of my old mans teachings... *When your pride gets bruised you make rash decisions. There's nothing worse than a rash decision... well besides getting punched in the face. Then again rash decisions often times lead to a punch in the face.

Bingo.

Ultimately it's going to unfortunately end up being on the fans because ticket prices will rise significantly over the next few years for the Preds and the owners cant make the fans front the difference. Poile took the ultimate gamble matching the offersheet: ask for more money from the fans in a growing market. And in the process of all that they need to make themselves appeal to free agents as well to put a winning product on the ice, and that will only add to the payroll.

I think Nashville will have the biggest drop off of any team this year. No addtions in a division that is suddenly looking very competitive.

So doing the simplest form of math.. they made a total of (15-7, carry the one) 8 million dollars..

Fantastic... makes for an even easier argument as to why they should move THE TEAM. You dont pick up and move the (frank)ing building.

If they didnt have a money losing Nashville Preds team, the interest group (or whoever actually owns the building) would have made 15 million instead of 8.

What happens if the team struggles and doesnt make the playoffs for a few years in a row.. and doesnt really ice a strong team? Odds are they will lose more and more money. Das ist schade

I agree. And it's not the time to trade for a D-man either. Let the kids play and see where the chips fall. It's a young team. No reason to have a 'win now' attitude and start blowing picks on stop gaps.

Who has St. Louis added? Who has Detroit added? Who has Chicago Added? In fact, who has Philly Added? Of those 4 teams, Philly has taken the biggest hit this year, especially on D.

Nashville lost Suter and Tootoo. We will be fine. Ellis may not be Suter, but he has the talent to be as good if not better. Also keep mind that NSH had the youngest team in the league last year. We are a year older, and have scoring youth on the way up.

is 8 million dollars really that much for a sports franchise owned by a group of investors? they each get their own million I suppose.

S.t Louis, no one cares, Detroit, they add from within, Chicago is loaded with talent, Philly they've sure as hell tried to add but came up short. Nashville needed offensive Help just like Philly needed D help would have been good for both to make a deal.
