No QB played as recklessly as Favre and he won a Super Bowl. They guy took more chances then any other QB I watched. He rarely protected the ball and make terrible decisions at times. So I'll still hold out hope.

Favre in his Prime was a much better QB. At the same age as Vick is now not so much and Even still, Favre had one hell of a kick returner for that Superbowl win.

Sounds about right. I'm sure some young guys will step up this year though.

The depth has been compromised. When the rash of injuries hit, there will be major issues.

We said the same thing last season. Will have to wait and see what happens.

It's pretty simple... Do the math.

Meszaros and Carle out, Gervais and Schenn in

Jagr and JVR out, Fedetenko and no one in...

- PLindbergh31

There's more "math" involved then that.

What do you think, write the Season off, and focus on 13/14?

It's really not looking good right now, what we can hope and hang our hats on is perhaps Schenn, Couturier, Simmonds, L.Schenn, Voracek, and Read all take another step. Hell I'd say Giroux is young enough that maybe he's got another rung on the ladder.
- JoeRussomanno

There is still a very good core of young, talented players, but the idea is to build and add to that core. Flyers haven't come close to accomplishing that this summer, not for lack of trying. It really has been a miserable summer hockey wise any way you slice it. Doesn't mean the team can't have a good season though.

I would say don't expect a cup, but don't underestimate what these younger players become either. All in all still a 5th or 6th seed and other teams will have to deal with their own injuries. God only knows who will fall into their laps at the trade deadline too.

The continued growth of Couts and Schenn. A more physical element to our defense. Players bring more of a defensively responsible approach to the game, etc.?

I agree its not looking good. Can you expect every player that had a career year to not only maintain those numbers, but increase them? Talbot, Couturier, Read, Simmonds, Giroux, Hartnell, and Schenn all had career years. Add to that Rinaldo, and Wellwood....

The only player that had a really down season was Briere... How can we expect all these guys to match the production from last year? I'm worried.

What are the positives from Meszaros blowing his achillies out before the season starts?

How exactly does 3 Rookies in Couturier, Schenn, and Read have career years? Wouldn't whatever Season they had last year, have been a career year? You remind me of someone!

He has not in anyway re-invented himself from his atlanta days and is not a championship quaterback, he's a guy that will go out and make a helluva highlight play everygame but in the end will turn the ball over or come up short in the big moment. His arrogance in being asked how he can improve speaks volumes to this.

Lubo would be a very good add.

I would do that trade in a second. But would the picks go to the NYI or ANH?

I say try and patch the defense with a UFA, and see how the team looks by the deadline. Dont trade your picks for old d-man, and dont trade the young guys for Ryan or a defenseman like Yandle or Boyle.

When life throws you lemons, pull the pin and throw it back?

There are no positives to that. So let's hang our heads, whine woe is me, say were screwed, and just give up now. Blah, blah, blah! He is one player!

Or think like a winner, think positively about the team, and move forward, and continue to root for and enjoy the Season and the team. That's what I'm going to do.

yea but in football, your quarterback is what you live or die with, very few teams have won a superbowl without that being the case. Everything hinges on the guy under center. I just don't see the Eagles defense with an offensive line coach as their Defensive coordinator under an offensive-minded head coach getting it done. Lot of nice pieces but not the ones you need. Hockey and football two very different sports.
