Agree with the above...Cizikas was an on-field, heat-of-the-moment incident that went horribly wrong. I've been in games where players got mad and swung their sticks in reaction to something, once where a player kicked out with his skate, and once where a player on my team destroyed and injured a player on the other team well after he scored and was celebrating, similar to the Hunter-Turgeon hit...and I've seen plenty of other reckless plays that could have ended much worse than they did. It doesn't excuse anything, of course, but I don't think a player who loses his cool during a game is necessarily of the same mindset as someone who forces his way into a woman's room multiple times, grabbing her and laying in her bed after she tells him to leave.

What's worse, trivino "assaulting" someone, or cizikas actually murdering someone? Thoughts?

this is clearly not a regular situation. he admitted to assaulting women. the islanders clearly didnt want to "reward" this type of player with a contract. whether you agree that he should/nt be signed isnt really the issue.
