Another bit of minor news...looks like Robbie Russo was sent home from the U.S. junior team. I don't know what his chances were of making the team, or if he was competitive at all while at camp.

very good, hopefully this was the reality kick the kid needs to get his chit together.. because he has real talent.

this is clearly not a regular situation. he admitted to assaulting women. the islanders clearly didnt want to "reward" this type of player with a contract. whether you agree that he should/nt be signed isnt really the issue.

He's not walking because of the loophole though...the team is just not interested in signing him. Happens all the time...if teams signed every player they drafted, they'd all be in violation of the team contract limit. And it's not like Trivino was having a stellar college career before the incident either. He was a disappointment until the last season he played, then he was playing very well but got suspended before the season was over after he ran into the off-ice trouble.

I don't blame the Isles for not wanting to take on the baggage, but personally, like I said, I'd have taken the chance and just tucked him away in the ECHL...see what happens. Not much to lose, imo.
