perhaps but i think it's their style of play opposed to their composition of players. either way, the rangers could afford to make that trade because their prospect pool is in good shape with nhl-ready prospects. but, there's no denying that dubinsky and anisimov were very solid two-way players. going to be interesting to see how they make up for their loss, defensively.

It's always interesting to see what happens when a team changes it's mix. But I think they made a great trade and made themselves better. But as always, we'll see what happens when they drop the puck.

If you ask me, they are taking a major risk to win the cup within the next year or 2. If they sign Doan to anything over 6 million, then they are going to be screwed witht he cap.... This year they have to resign Del Zotto, next year Stepan, Hagelin, McDonagh, and Sauer come off thier ELCs and they dont drop any salary.... They will be lucky to come out of that unscathed.... But the following year the only players signed are Richards, Nash, and Staal... Meaning Gaborik, Lundquist, Callahan, Krieder, Girardi, etc are all going to need new contracts.... I dont see Lundy or Gabby taking lower contacts.... They are going to be SCREWED!

I would expect at least 2 million on a short term deal, long term should be higher. But Stepan and McDonagh is going to cost them big time next year.
