That first would be a late first anyway, so it's not worth as much as you seem to think. Plus, I don't think our cap could handle taking on Mr. Universe and Briere.

I'd rather take a bullet to the face than have Bryz on this team. But on a side note is there any realistic chance of dany coming here... not sure

People gotta start carrying thier guns more and stop leaving them at home in the safe. Occasional practice at the gun club couldn't hurt either. It would put an end to this crap real quick.

NO!!! people need to stop carrying guns so much and need to stop having such easy access to them. I'm so sick of hearing about people dying in senseless shootings. gun control needs to be a huge priority for this country

Anybody else think this Briere rumor has any legs? I can't see Philly moving Danny even though they could use help on defense. They've lost a bunch of forwards the last few years.

Thats exactally what they want you to beleive.

Understand this, there are physically just as many guns as there are people in this country. Making guns illegal will be pointless. You can never recover all the guns. All that would do is create a massive black market for guns with a gangs and racketeers 4x's as dangerous as drug dealers.

Drugs are illegal and fought tooth and nail every year by our government, yet still a ubiquitous in our society. Prohibition also failed miserably and led to more crime. The criminals will still carry them because they dont give a poop. How fair is that, that some jerk who doesn't care if he goes to jail can rob you or shoot you and you aren't allowed to properly protect yourself? What does he get in jail? A free roof, a bed, 3 free meals a day and world class health care? Fair? Hell no.

But this is a hockey site, feel free to respond to me via PM.

I would see getting Briere as something of a waste unless enough talent was brought in to make the team a contender (which won't happen in the next year, I don't think). Briere is older and still great in the playoffs, but unless you have a team that can do something in the playoffs, there's no point in paying Briere the money he's getting.

Few people in the US realistically argue for making ALL guns illegal. But I can't see any reason for why one should be allowed to own an automatic weapon capable of shooting 100 rounds a minute. Those are machines designed to kill people. And if somebody says they want to use a thing like that for hunting deer, maybe hunting deer is too hard of a sport for that person. Try golf.

As for the drug comparison, most drugs are plant-based and/or easily made in makeshift labs. So making the production of them is foolish because they are so easy to produce. But automatic weapons require lots of money and entire factories to produce, so criminalizing the production of them would actually accomplish something. Unless Smith & Wesson puts up a secret factory somewhere in New Mexico, you won't see a lot of automatic weapons around.

Would have prefered a PM but okay...

Paragraph 1, I totally agree.

Paragraph 2. Good point about the whole plant thing. But in a situation where the US population is disarmed, the black market for guns will be nasty. People should still be allowed to own pistols, standard rifles and shotguns.

Totally agree in the case of Marijuana. Spend Billions fighting it so it still can be in every college dorm, every concert ever and Lil Wayne can still sing about it 39 times on every record.

Guys, you could argue getting rid of guns is like in the instigator rule. Or trying get rid of fighting in hockey as a whole.

The jerks are still going to do as they please to the playing field needs to be fair to that people can defend themselves from guys who dont care how many penalty minutes they rack up.

If you knew anything about guns, you would know that owning automatic weapons is very illegal in the US and the sale of automatic weapons is only permitted to the US military and police forces. There are cases of people being allowed to own them with special permits and lots of other paperwork.

Don't confuse automatic with assault. Assault weapons can still be obtained.
