He got a free run at a goalie. Let's not add insult to injury. |

In all reality both of them should have been suspended. However, would it have mattered if he had been suspended? He was going to miss time anyway. The tragedy is that Lucic didn't get suspended. |

The league must not see it that way. They were wrong for not suspending Lucic and Miller. I think it probably would have had to be both or none. They opted for none. |

This has got to be the most irrelevant topic of convo as far as the sabres go. If we can't forget about this we'll be screwed. Lucic better get his ass handed to him every time they play the Sabres from here on. Other than that it shouldn't matter. |

It's not irrelevant though. That's the problem. That 1 game showed all the deficiencies the team had last year. I think that they've done a decent job of addressing those needs.
But on top of that, it shows how far the league needs to come as far as discipline goes and how different the leagues idea of discipline is and the GMs of the league. You would think these are things communicated between the disciplinarians and the GMs, but apparently they're not discussed as much as the probably should be. |

I think that the only guy there that would be able to hold his own physically with Lucic is Scott. And lets scratch Kaleta from any toughness list, that guy is a cheap shot artist. The only person I see him fighting in the bruins is Marchand. Maybe he'd challenge Bergeron though... - lumlums
The only fight I've seen Bergeron in he had a one-punch take down because the other guy didn't know Bergeron is left handed. Probably one in a million that Bergeron would win a fight but somehow he did.
Edit: it was not a one-punch takedown like I thought, they did exchange a couple. |

The kicker is after that hit, if you take out the 5-1 win over the caps, the sabres scored 14 goals in the next 8 games
It's bad enough that the core did not respond to the hit, what makes it ten times worse is the team crumbles for weeks as their response
Same thing seems to happen in games, sabres have a lead, pommer gets his bell rung and the team crumbles and loses the game

Let's not talk about that game. I was in the arena for that one and I thought I was going to throw up. I thought for sure his neck was broken. It was awful. Definitely the quietest I've ever heard the arena in person. I wish to never have to experience anything like that ever again. |

I would have to say that would probably be one of the worst things to experience. I'm glad I haven't had something like that. Watching Pommer go off on the stretcher was enough for me. |

I was at the Zednik game and that moment is still so vivid. Can't imagine being at the Malarchuk game. It's just great that both guys were in good health so soon after the incidents. |

I do think Miller's swing was more reactionary than premeditated based on the timing. He swung while still falling down. I think that was why he didn't get a suspension for it. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, but that, along with the PR nightmare that would ensue probably didn't make a suspension a good idea.
I didn't have a problem with Lucic not getting suspended, but Brendan Shanahan's explanation of "I didn't suspend him because Lucic told me he didn't mean it" insults my intelligence. |
