That's quite the premium to play for leadership without very substantial production, for Doan.

I'm sure there are many guys who are great in the room and "leaders" in their own regard who aren't very productive... I doubt you'd give them 3 million more than they are worth just for those intangibles.

i honestly doubt the the 7.5 figure is being blown out of proportion, he knows he wont get it, his agent knows that, its a ploy to get as much $ as possible

Vanek was a somewhat forced signing... Also I would rather have vanek any day of the week. We wouldn't be a better team if it was Doan playing the past 5 years for us then Vanek. Leadership isn't worth 7m lol! Go sign a guy like Arnot or langenbrunner if you want leadership and save 5m .

I was at that game too, 1st ever Sabres game for me. Seats were in the lower bowl. I was (and am) a huge SJ and Thornton fan, so the 5-0 SJ win wasn't all that bad. I would literally shat my pants if Jumbo came to B-Lo.
