My intent was to compare the production of Briere and Vanek based on their contract. People whine about Vanek now, I can't imagine how they would react to a 40/50 point season from a guy making more money.

35 is 35. Briere's production has degraded his since 06/07. If this past year was a down year we could only expect maybe 10 more points out of him.

Is he great in the playoffs? yes! Are the Sabres a playoff team? Maybe. I don't think an older version of Danny is the solution to getting into the playoffs. Sabre Nation better hope that either one of the Gs turn into Stamkos.

Not sure that Grigs has the upside of a Stamkos, and positive that Girgs doesn't. However, I believe that Grigs is going to be a stud in his own right, and Girgs is on his way to becoming a stellar 3rd liner with top 6 potential (based on desire alone).
