Won't you reconsider? Whilst others are flailing about with their girlfriends, jobs and fantasy leagues, I'm toiling away in my laboratory with my assistant, coming ever closer to creating a race of beast-men, the perfect combination of savage and intellect...the world will cower at my, our feet! My vivisection skills are nearly perfected and you seem an adequate specimen. Lemme know.

Time for a new blog Garf, thinking you should write about how Igilna would help the Sabres. I'll even recommend the title for you:

Over the weekend, CSNWashington.com continued its look ahead to the 2014 Sochi Games by projecting which blueliners may represent the U.S..

LOCKS:
Ryan Suter (Minnesota Wild)
Jack Johnson (Columbus Blue Jackets)
Keith Yandle (Phoenix Coyotes)

The projected list goes on to list Erik Johnson and Ryan McDonagh as "Probables"

Dustin Byfuglien, Matt Carle, John Carlson, and Kevin Shattenkirk as "In The Mix"

Zach Bogosian, Alex Goligoski, Jordan Leopold, Paul Martin, Brooks Orpik, and James Wisniewski as "Long Shots"

with Justin Faulk, Jake Gardiner, Seth Jones, and Jared Tinordi as "See You In 2018".

i know he's listed in the "long shots" category, but there must be some teams out there that would value Leopold if we were to put him on the market...
or use him as a piece in a package deal...

i found it interesting to see he's being thought of this highly

The Red Wings still need to add a defenseman before training camp, according to The Detroit Free Press.

After the retirement of Nicklas Lidstrom and the departure of Brad Stuart for family reasons, the Wings will go to camp with the following defensemen: Niklas Kronwall, Kyle Quincey, Ian White, Jonathan Ericsson, Jakub Kindl and Brendan Smith.

General manager Ken Holland has acknowledged that he needs to add more to the blue line.

The likely scenarios are to make a trade or gamble on a free agent.

Among possible free agents the Wings could roll the dice on are Michal Rozsival, Brett Clark and Carlo Colaiacovo.

hmmm....
i REALLY like darren helm
it's pretty obvious we arent going to get zetterberg, datsyuk, etc
but Helm is prob my fav 4th line player in the NHL,
and i believe he even played quite a bit on the 3rd line for detroit last year, as well as filling in in past seasons
he could be our new "gaustad" and play on our 3rd line with leino & ott
that could be a pretty tough line to play against
and he can easily drop back down to the 4th line when one of the young kids is ready if buffalo decides to go with 3 "scoring" lines

my thought would be something like Leopold & mccormick...
for Helm and a pick (2nd?)

i included mccormick bc we really wouldn't need him & detroit would get a 4th line guy to plug in their line-up
i figured on a 2nd bc of the value defensemen have had recently,
both in trades and some of the contracts that have been signed...

but even if it is a 3rd,
i'm good with that

helm would fill a need (3rd line center)
and a role (scrappy, pk guy, kinda fast too)
seems like a deal that could benefit both sides

i also like Abdelkader from them (he played w tim kennedy at Michigan state)
havent thought of this before just now,
but i also wouldnt hate bringing back kennedy to center our 4th line
he did show some potential with us
im not saying trade anything significant (6th or 7th) for him, but if it did happen... i'd give him another shot

Hearing Burke will make a deal within the next two weeks for Getzlaf

If it happens there will be a problem.

GREAT!!!
let him have the bum....
guy scored 11goals last year & will be looking for 7mil+ on his next contract...
and you'll have to extend him right away,
otherwise the "free agent frenzy" would be too much to pass up,
so you're taking a HUGE leap of faith,
hoping that he returns to the 25goal, 50+ assist guy he's been

with all the good, young center talent we now have...
i want someone with fewer ?s if we are going to pay that kind of contract & give up all the assets anaheim are sure to demand

i'd MUCH rather have Perry or Ryan

next year, our 3rd line could be...

girgensons-grigorenko-armia

that could be one helluva line

i dont mind us making moves to trade for guys,
as long as it's the RIGHT move
and i dont wanna see us give up something crazy either

i wouldnt even trade Ennis for Getzlaf "straight up" at this point
when you consider how close the production will be between the two,
and then figure ennis' next caphit will be less than half of getzlaf's...
and then remember we have TWO good center prospects coming up soon...

Getzlaf just doesnt make sense to me
i do think he'll rebound & be better... but i also dont consider him a true "#1" either, so i'll let someone else overpay for him
