Never thought I'd say this but...(clears throat)...I agree with you.
Danny is clutch. Bring him back. - Powerslave
sure. 6.5 million for 50 points with superior talent around him. And you guys complain about Vanek! hahahah. Briere may be clutch in the playoffs but you have to make it there first. |

The Bills have a game on Thursday. It's only preseason but at least it's something. |

I doubt it. Then again, I think it's the kids day game and that does sell out every so often because the tickets are a lot cheaper for younger kids. |

The kids day game isn't until 8/25. I think the same blackout rules apply for preseason. They usually show it on tape delay a day or two later if not sold out. |

Not aware yet of the exact #Flyers counter-offer but source #CONFIRMED to me it includes Read AND Simmonds. #NHLDucks pondering this.
If they give up Simmonds, kiss Ryan goodbye. - joevthree
I don't get why Philly is so desperate?? Do they just want to make a move so that they can say they did something besides Schenn??
Ryan is a .78 ppg player...
Read is a .59 ppg player as a rookie.
Simmonds is a .44 ppg player.
I don't get it..
Vanek for Ryan straight up is barely fair.. Anaheim is asking for that king's ransom. |

Well, right, but there have been years where the Kids Day game has sold out in time to lift the blackout. 2004 is one that immediately comes to mind. |

All because they do not have to trade him. They want a kings ransom back or they will not trade him. Kind of like Darcy with Goose. Give me a first rounder or he stays a Sabre. Someone bit... exactly what the Ducks are hoping for. |

I understand that.. but we didn't burn the entire bridge of our relationship with Goose that if he were to come back it would have been just awkward.
I think this trade affair and Ryan saying he would want to play for both Philly or Buffalo...
They have burned that bridge. |

Yep. I'd be more than happy if they just simply gave up on Ryan. It would be nice to land a Center. But there just does not seem to be any worthy ones available. We may be heading into the season with what we have. Maybe a minor move or two to clear up the 7 and 8 d'men. |

There are plenty of teams looking for defensive depth help... notably Detroit, STL, Philly, and Minny.

Yup.. they are finally back on tour together right now for the inaugural Knotfest with some huge bands.. im going to it in a few weeks... Cannibal corpse. Dethklok, deftones, lamb of god, gojira.. and more too...
Lead singer corey taylor and guitar james root went and did work in the band Stone Sour for awhile.. love that band too.. they have had a bunch of good ones.. through the glass, wicked game cover, and most popular was Say You'll haunt Me and Bother. - JVince11
I think it's time for them to drop the image - fire the "percussionists" - become a six piece and forget the radio-metal. Then I could get back into them again. |

i said this earlier: the only way the Ducks accept an offer from the Flyers is for Schenn (the forward) and Sean Couturier. If he accepts anything less ...the ducks gm will get hazed.
From a Buffalo POV: Vanek for Ryan is an upgrade. EVEN if both players rack up the same amount of points. Ryans physical play and grit automatically gives him a big edge over Vanek.
The Sabres have to play the Bruins, Rangers, flyers and im sure a few more teams that are extremely physical. Ryan would help bring a more physical play for the sabres top 6 forwards.
I just hope that Doan signs and the Sabres go "all in" and make some moves!! |

First off the bigger question is, what else would Buff have to give up? Briere is the most productive playoff forward since the lockout in the entire NHL. There is no way the Flyers would dump him for two dmen that might not even be able to crack their top 5. Both are decent puck movers and Leopold can put the puck in the net, but the Flyers could simply bring in Gustafson and pay him nothing. Potentially get the same results.
Not to mention they need Briere’s leadership as their forwards are very young.
Garth undervalues both Grossman and Coburn. They were the Flyers best pairing towards the end of last year and both were spectacular lining up against the Malkin line. Would we spend a second rd pick for Sekera? Yes, but that’s about it.

Right. I'm sure Garths next blog will be "Why an Enroth for Biron trade makes sense becasue it will increase the leadership footprint in the locker room"
In other news Drury to become bench coach |

I've never once complained about Vanek, so I don't know where you lump me in with the Vanek-haters. Vanek's production is fine, he's a tough SOB, and he'll play through pain every time. I will never b!tch about him. And if you're implying that Vanek's contract doesn't match the production, this has (YAWN) been talked about ad nauseum. Of the 700 players that play in the NHL, the % of players that don't "earn" their contracts outweighs the % of players that do, if you're solely basing things around production. At this point, who gives a crap what he makes? It's moot. He has two years left on his contract, and has averaged 33 goals a year for his career. If you can move him for a younger, cheaper version of him, I'm for it, but I like what he brings to the table.
As far as Briere goes? He had an off year last year. He's 35, but he's not an "old" 35, and he has gas left in the tank, and I believe he is going to bounce back strong. What better place to do it in than Buffalo. And I don't think playing with guys like Vanek or Pominville can be considered inferior talent, compared to who he'd be playing with in Philly. Perhaps only one guy in Philly's forward group (Giroux) is superior overall.
And as far as the playoffs, this is a playoff team, and would be more so with a guy like Danny Briere. |
