Sorry quick pivot but this was something I wrote in Bill's Dallas Stars/Jagr blob (which was amazing).

Like MJL I too had my prejudices concerning Jagr signing with Philadelphia last season but he really showed me something this past year. It's a shame he couldn't stay with the Flyers but money aside, his role/ice time in Philly just wouldn't be guaranteed with the 1st unit even strength as well as the PP.

Anyone who is a serious hockey fan - regardless of their team loyalty - could see that Claude Giroux was going to become something special in this league. That being said, I honestly believe Jagr's professionalism, work ethic and locker room dynamic helped take Giroux to the next step in his career. He also helped the rookies and even some of the established veterans just by witnessing his work ethic and dedication. Through it all, though, I believe the most profound and lasting effect Jagr has left with the team resonates with his fellow countryman, Jakob Voracek. Not only is Voracek from the same town in the Czech Republic as Jaromir but Jagr was Voracek's childhood hero. With Voracek beginning his career out in the small market of Columbus Ohio and being a high draft pick, blessed with all of the coveted attributes of any hockey player - speed, size, skill - he had never been able to really come into his own. With the Flyers this past season you could actually see him mature and develop as the season progressed in Philadelphia. Thank you Jaromir for all you contributed last season with the Flyers.

I hope the best for him in Dallas.

I think you have everyones point totals a little high. I hope I'm wrong and like the optimism, but I don't see some of those totals happening.

Ya fans always over/under do it. Its never in between.

Giroux was on pace for 100 Points if he didnt get injured those 5 games, so I dont see why he cant put up 5 more. Scotty I think can pot 40 this year, Jake will get ATLEAST 20G playing with G. If I had to choose 1 player for being a little too optimistic, it's B. Schenn. This guy is still a top prospect in this league. I think playing with Danny B and Simms all year instead of 3rd and 4th line up and down, he will have a breakout year.

But ya, prob a little too optimistic.

Simmonds and Harts will have less goals. Schenn more.

Just curious as to why? Hartnell scored 38 last year, and Simmonds scored 28 last year.

Some feel that Simmonds and HArtnell had career years last season. I could see both getting close to what they had last year, but regression is possible. A lot depends on how the lines shake out.

Last year's stats are not a trend. Just my opnion, not saying your predictions are stupid or anything. For me, it would be impossible to predict as you, so not suggesting I could do better.

Harts doesnt seem like a consistent 40 goal scorer to me. I could actually see 28 or 38. I like Simmonds but dont love him. I thin 20 to 25 and he could be on the third line if we get a Doan or Ryan.

Schenn was a rookie and hurt. I think he scores 25, but the difference between your prediction and mine may be a function of luck (really for all three players)
