phillies are fishing for a taker. if any team claims lee for sure he'd be pulled off waivers and they'd try and work out a trade.

i could see the yankees taking a bite. their starting rotation is iffy.

it's only money. and the yankees have more of it than anyone. angels got better. rangers got better. i can't see the yankees feeling great about playoff pitching matchups. but then again, what do i know?

Cuz. Nobody wants to take over that contract. Happens all the time after the deadline, and it is extremely rare that someone is picked up. They can also pull him back if someone claims him.

The 33-year-old Lee earns $21.5MM this year and $25MM per season from 2013-15. His contract includes a $27.5MM vesting option ($12.5MM buyout) for 2016.

He also has veto power for a trade to 21 teams.
