I don't understand how Gillis acquiring Bjugstad would make any poster here look like a genius anyways.

It would certainly make A LOT of naysayers look foolish however.

My original idea with the Thornton trade was to move Kesler (at least in the playoffs) to the 3rd line, making that a true shutdown line with solid offensive upside. It might be a bit too radical for the coaching staff to try out but we'd easily be the deepest team at C in the league and not be limited to 1 scoring line when Kesler takes on his shutdown roll in the playoffs.

This me just playing around with your idea so don't take it serious .

That's a great lineup and I know this is just for fun, but that would be nearly impossible to pull off and there would be cap implications. Edler and Burrows would be very hard to re-sign as well.

And I'm assuming you'd want Murray as well?

So...

Murray-Garrison
Ballard-Tanev

Why would anyone give up anything for Ballard to take on his 4.2 mill?

They could get Coliacovo, Hannan and lots of other better Dmen for less on the open market without giving up a single pick.

- Iggysbff

What is that guy's name that got traded to the Islander's at the draft for a second round pick, with a cap hit of $5.6 million and is 35 years old and is now in dispute over the trade? Oh right, there are no teams looking to reach the cap floor that would be willing to give up, say a 4th rounder for Ballard...

I was assuming we would be taking back a goalie to trade for a Dman I was thinking Murrya as the 5 th not the 3 rd.

A cheaper solution than Thorton (as we are fantasizing) would be Bobby Ryan. He is cheaper and has 3 years left . He has played with Kesler before. We could trade Luongo Edler Booth Jensen for Ryan and Hiller and then trade Hiller to Tor for Gunner and Franson.
- VANTEL

I like Ryan, but that's too much to give, IMO. Also, whether you're a big fan or not, trading Edler leaves a huge hole in the D, which would have to be addressed by more than Gunnarson, or just bumping Ballard into the top 4. Gunnarson is not a top4 D, he is a good bottom pairing D.

This is all us just passing time and Shooting the Sh!t,but the radio station the other day was touching on it (How hard will it be to re-sign Burrows and Edler or do we move them)?

Niemi is a problem for them. He costs a lot and isn't very good. Taking his contract is helping them. Murray is more salary. Shark fans don't seem to love him anymore. He's slow. He's basically a harder hitting Alberts.

If you take out Niemi and Murray, I think this is even a better deal for Vancouver. Takes away all our cap problems and let's us look for bargain trades from cap heavy teams.

A lot will have to do with the new CBA as well a both of their perfomances next year.

Vishnovsky. He put up 68 points the season before last though. Only 27 points last year, but the Ducks were fairly awful. I'd think he's a fair bit more valuable than Ballard unless he's not fully healthy.

Everything is clear as mud

The good thing is we have many options and this year and next should be fun with the free agency pool and trades. Some big names have been moved and some still out there and it makes it fun.

I think Canucks ( me coming back to Earth) need to make at least one more big move this summer. I think if we could switch Manny for Arnott ,and get Doan or Ryan then it will be a very successful offseason
