Best 60 goals scorer who never score 40. I don't know how that can happend but it happend on the Leafs fans and Burke brain.

No Burke didn't say anything about that. That is from the 'insider' people.
- jsam7

I never heard them, are the insiders who said he was American Sidney Crosby?

I agree about JVR, still see him as winger with lots of potential if he can stay healthy.

As for Kessel.... thanks for the input, I still don't see it happening but I can see why it makes sense replacing Bozak by a real #1 center would help.

- Scabeh

Hopefully he can stay healthy, adds a dimension the Leafs need.

Haha poor Bozak, he would be a good 3rd line centre but forced into a #1. Sigh!

Too bad you couldn't get Galchenyuk.

Def worth the gamble. I read an interview with Rutherford, where they said they did their homework. Talking to ex teammates, they even talked to Boudreau at the draft and said he is a great teammate and only gets a bad rap from outsiders
- jsam7

I wouldnt be suprised if he scored 40+ goals this year.

Arnott might be a good, cheap 3rd line center for the Canes.

Do you think Kessel will have a better season if JVR works out at center?

I really see last season as the best he can do.

- Scabeh

Not bad though eh? Only 5 players had more points. If that's the best he can do it's still not bad. He may do slightly better with somebody other than BOZAK as a centre no?

Someone should just sign Knuble, no tryout required there.

Hey, who has more goals after age 30.. Wayne Gretzky or Mike Knuble?

Agreed. Semin put up great numbers before Washington switched to a defensive system. Everyone's numbers dropped, not just Semin so I think 21 goals and 54 points is a lot less than he'll produce in Carolina. I could see him being a point per game guy with 40+ goals, easy.

It is a combination of having nothing to say because your statements have no validity. Also trying to decipher what you are actually trying to say gets a little exhausting. In some cases, it is the only option.

Call me crazy, but if Kessel is to score 40 goals, leafs will have to get better puck movement from their D.

Can't disagree, having a top 6 player in points is a great thing.

If Lupul is on his wing, there is no reason why Kessel can't consistantly pot 80pts a year. They are both first line wingers, and if we added a 1st line Center then both should benifit. Seeing as that won't happen I will assume that Kessel and Lupul will be within the same point totals as last year.

Actually though with Carlyles defensive system who knows what will happen.

Imagine playing a team with both Staal's and Arnott as 1,2,3 centres? Jesus, talk about an exhausting game.

Gardiner, Reilly, Blacker, Phaneuf to a lesser extent. He'll get better movement soon.

I'd rather have Kessel... if only because I have yet to see anyone say Kessel is a bad teamate.

Talent wise... yeah they're similar.

- Scabeh

Clearly some of the people on this blog have never seen Kessel play... to even suggest that you would take Semin over Kessel is insane. Kessel was playing with TYLER BOZAK against every teams top d-men and still put up those numbers. Did Semin play against the top pairing d-men? I honestly don't know because I haven't had the chance to watch many Capitals games, but I dont think he played on the same line as Ovechkin and Ove would have seen all the top d-men...

Did anyone watch the caps last year? Did Semin play on Ove's line?

Anyways, Semin has the same ability to score as Kessel, but if you have watched Kessel you know that he is a great passer, has a decent attitude, and doesn't whine...

Deep down inside, you know what i am saying is truth, you can't deny. Leafs are in the history in the making for worng reason. The 1st team to not make playoff from cba to cba. What' next? From cba to cba to cba?

I absolutely dont see JVR working out as a center. I laughed when I heard that and thought it was a joke. However, there arent many people higher on JVR than I am. I firmly believed that the flyers werent being patient with him. Injuries didnt help. Before the trade went down, I saw JVR scoring 30+ goals next year esepcially if he got sufficient time playing next the Giroux. I think before his first injury last year, he was on pace for 33 goals. He's got a big shot too which resulted in Philly trying him out on the point. It was a fine idea in my book but he didnt look comfortable on the point, and is better served down low IMO.. Overall though, JVR needs to work on his consistency and defensive aspects of his game. Deep down I feel like this is a trade the Flyers will regret. I just hope Luke makes it easier to swallow.

Ya, I laughed when people started saying JVR was going to be our top centerman...

And I hope you enjoy Schenn... I am sad to see him go. He may not have the best hands but he hits like a truck, blocks shots, will drop the gloves for his teamates in a sec, and is a class guy.... I miss him already!
