Like I said, its a shame.
The same machine that drove Floyd to depart is the same machine that killed Jerry.
The money was to much for them to stop and take a break. - dadeadhead

I think people put to much faith into potential.
Ennis and Hodgson are nothing more than 2nd line centerman.
People are to quick to annoint rather than actually seeing what's there.
Just my opinion. - dadeadhead
the devils dont have a #1 center and they did pretty well, yes having a #1 center will greatly help but if you have quality centerman then as long as others help out and there is a good system in place then it helps cover for the lack of a #1
henrique is probably a #2 depending how he plays from now on, cant go off of 1 season but he does look very nice, zajac isnt a #1 but he will get 60-65pts then we have josefson who is an unknown, if you want to include elias a center then he isnt a #1 and his faceoffs are below average, and well our "new" 4th line center showed in the playoffs that he will do what is needed and stepped up in the playoffs (4th line may have been the devils best line)
but while none of them are exactly a offensive minded scorer/playmaker they feed off their linemates, create chemistry and fight (not literally) for each other through a hard forecheck but they also come back defensively to be reliable
so while every team would love a #1 center, that doesnt necessarily bring success, if you dont have a #1 C then there are other ways to be successful

I would wager a guess that you are in the minority there - Gunner Staal
i hated the pen's-flyers series, to me an exciting game is where there is defense and goalies, there were too many bad d-plays and weak goals where it just wasnt exciting
the games would have been exciting if it was hard work where the players "made their luck" rather than just shooting it and it going in ala practice, it just didnt seem like a high level of hockey more of an allstar game where there was no D and then there were some dirty hits (expected for the series-but ones where it appeared that they were directly going for the head of others)
im not saying 2-1 games are the most exciting, but if its a goalie battle then those are the best

but that is my opinion - dmarsden2988
for me i liked that series because i have no personal interest in either team. on a side not, i still think jersey has a good team even with the parise loss. the east powerhouses in my opinion. NYR, PIR, PHI, CAR, BOS, id even put FLA in there.

Fav player who never played for buffalo? Hmmm.. Tough Question... Easy answer is Gretzky or Lemeuix.... I have a hockey man crush on Rick Nash, and was drooling over his trade prospects... Now I hate him for going to the Rangers....
It has to be Mike Modano. LOVED the way he skated... So smooth... Great player - edwinsagain
Late to this convo...but, definitely Steve Yzerman. I still have a shrine in the corner of the office designated to him. Framed Jersey and poster, 8x10 signed, more autographs, mcfarlane sportspick figure, Sabre tickets bearing his likeness, etc.

i dont think the devils will do as well as they did in the reg season, i still think they can get the 7-8 spot, parise leaving will hurt but deboar is a very good coach and he has put in a style that seems to work and even when he was in florida when they didnt have much to work with he showed he was a good coach, so it will be interesting to see, the playoff run was a surprise to us all, we all thought we would get past florida but from then on we didnt know and the hard work and forecheck allowed the devils to get past 2 tough opponents
i wouldnt call carolina a powerhouse right now, they sure do have the makings to be one if semin plays with heart and we will finally see if j staal has the ability to be a top player, and if ward has a very good season then maybe but we will see how it goes, they should be a playoff team but you cant go from what you see on paper
florida isnt a powerhouse, they barely made the playoffs last year (due to SO) and id give it a season before they start taking off, huberdeau is going to be sick but i dont think he will bring them to a powerhouse this season
boston will have a great team, but my only question is how big of a ? will thomas be if he decides to come back 1/2 through the season?
and philly will be a very good reg season team but in the playoffs who knows with that D (it got worse with losing carle and no one replacing him, and schenn (d) is overrated at this point
