Not sure if this matters but if you put a CHL team against a NCAA team the CHL team would win.

Perhaps youre right, but an NCAA team would likely beat the Oilers

Haha, that's what I mean though, shouldn't he have to earn it too? It sounded like the previous post was saying he immediately has the #1 C spot! Shouldn't he have to work to get that spot? That's part of development.
- wolfos412

Based on his skill level the coach expects him to be his 1C next year. It's not guaranteed.

CHL was never really in the cards though... It was either Dubuque or Providence right from the get go.

The real question should be USHL vs NCAA.

I don't know much except he needs time and depending on the program NCAA isn't bad.
But as a Hab fab the term NCAA doesn't sit well with me.

right, touche. And I was actually initially writing that and found myself writing about the CHL vs NCAA instead.

Hmm, still holds that the NCAA was the best option for him given his developmental needs.

Dumb question. Will he be able to attend the Flames camp & if he does great gets rewarded the 9-10 NHL games & then sent back to NCAA or are there different rules in these situations?

I'm feeling better about the NCAA given his showing at the Flames rookie camp. Originally I was leaning towards the USHL because I like the idea of him having tremendous success at every stage of his development, but if he's ready for the NCAA, I'm happy to see him there already. Probably shaves a year off of his development curve.

I wasnt sure, and the only thing I could dig up was this:

NCAA regulations allow student-athletes (or prospective student-athletes) to take part in one testing or tryout session per NHL team, at the team's expense, for up to 48 hours. An exception is if a player takes part in the NHL Draft Combine or the NHL Research and Development Camp - those events are considered tryouts for all 30 teams. A player could participate in another tryout beyond those events, but would need to pay his own way.

NCAA players may attend NHL summer development camps, or prospect camps, but must pay their own way (transportation, lodging, food, etc.).

Brian Huddle would be the right guy to ask about this...Ill pm him and ask him to post something if he knows

It'll be years before he makes an impact, if at all, at the NHL level.
- LeftCoaster

Based on what? you actually ever seen him play? He is 17, if born 4 days later, he would have been a top 6-8 draft choice next draft.

In 2 years he will be only 19 and have 2 years College Hockey under his belt and probably 30 pounds.

Common now, an obvious friendly chirp is always welcomed as long as your provide something of actual relevance to the conversation. Thats the way I would like this blog to be run

Those who do nothing (but) troll for reactions...thats a different story.

Ugh, everyone knows that. You need to target someone else, like PK is a cancer and because of this Price is going to demand a trade to where ever Doan signs.

We can start insulting Nucks or Leafs fans and their respective teams... It usually brings out the douche bags...

Who is the bigger douche? The douche or the douche that summons him?
