With his skill, if he fill outs he could very well be a dominant player in the league. - Colin Dambrauskas
I thought I heard Feaster make a Nieuwendyk comparison. |

I think its a pick that will stick with Feaster for a long time one way or the either. I just wonder if Calgary fans have the necessary patience if Jankowski needs 3-4 years to make it. |

Wow this has gone off the rails.
I'm really hopeful that this investment pick will eventually bear fruit. Going to the NCAA is definitely the right move. Going up against better talent should help him develop his skills. The only problem is having to keep fingers crossed for 3 or 4 years that he isn't yet another Jesper Mattson/Daniel Tkaczuk/Rico Fata/Kris Chucko/etc...

Do you see a Nieuwendyk type player in Jankowski? |

Im no NHL scout...I see a player with a ton of potential if he fills out and continues to develop. Its tough to say what a kid at 17 can do...and Nieuwendyk has big shoes to fill. |

Any of you Flames fans worried that Jankowski may just use the same loop hole that Justin Schultz used and stiff the Flames? That is if he even develops the way you think he will? - Iggysbff
You can almost ask the very same question about all draftees. |

Wait really? first line? That's impressive, though could make some bad blood in the locker room from the get go. Guys who have spent 3-4 years working hard to get that spot would be more than a little ticked that a kid walks right in and takes it without playing for the team yet. - wolfos412
Not so sure about that. Kid is a first round draft pick, and those other guys aren't. I don't see there being a problem in the dressing room. If anything, they will be pulling for him to succeed (hockey is a team sport). |

I think he genuinly feels happy and proud to have been drafted by the Flames where he was. His post draft video's show him being pretty impressed that his jersey actually had his name sewed right on as opposed to velcroed. That said, it's potentialy 4 years away so who knows what can happen. Sather may just get in there with his "tampering" and try to convince the kid that NY is the place to be. |

In a perfect world yes, but I've met my fair share of people going nowhere that just fume when someone younger and better comes in and takes their spot. |

That loophole only happens when a player plays a year of junior then goes to college for 3 years. Since he is going straight to the NCAA a 'Justin Schultz' move is not possible |

And Im sure if he develops properly, being that hes a centerman, he'll be rumored to be heading to Toronto atleast 10 times a year |

I dont see being impatient being a problem seeing the reluctance of the Flames to pull the trade trigger on our older stars. Reality is by the time Kipper & Iggy arent wearing Flames Jerseys, this kid will hopefully be showing his talents & ready to make the next step. In 2-3 years, I expect to see Brodie & Baerschte hitting levels comparable to where Eberle & Hall are at (please note I'm not comparing the players per sec but league perception of being established NHL talents). |
