Nashville Needs a player who is going to help on the PowerPlay, I'm shocked that no one has even mentioned that. We went from 1st in pp in the regular season to last in that Phoenix series. The LACK OF CONSISTENT PP is this teams down fall. However, add a good sniper and that would possibly change.....
- PREDX1

In all fairness, we couldn't buy a goal against Phoenix in that series, be it on the powerplay or 5on5. I think that was more of their netminder getting ridiculously hot at the right time, their defense being suffocatingly close to all of our forwards, and solid back checking by their forwards limiting any quality chances.

Not saying we shouldn't do anything to bolster the offense, but i think we should solidify the back end first. We have a good core back there but NO depth. One injury and we are fubar'd....

He does I think. What I saw him saying was to get our RFA signed first (or traded). Blum is the only one of note unsigned. (Others are Stortini, Ryan and Dupont.)

edit: Of course he might also mean other teams' RFA defencemen - Subban, Franson, Benn, etc.

- blueline

Thanks, Blum is the main pred RFA. Franson is too soft for DP, Subban would drive BT nuts!

Apparently, Comcast is beginning a new program to charge heavy data use customers a fee for their heavy use. Nashville is the first market chosen for this. Comcast is the parent company of the Philadelphia Flyers. Coincidence? I think not…
- pmccann

I can see this conversation now in the board room...

[CFO] I've been looking over some ways that we could generate more revenue, and I realize that there are some customers out there who are not paying nearly enough for the massive amounts of data that they are using. We should roll down some extra fees for those that exceed their usage.

[CEO] I like this idea, but I think we need to do this for a short time in select markets. This way we see how well it is received by the customers and if it is really something that we should continue to do.

[CFO] That's a good idea. We'll implement this structure of fees beginning next fiscal quarter. And we're going to start in the Nashville area market.

[CEO] That is certainly a decent market to choose. But might I ask why that one specifically? Are you finding that market to have more customers exceeding their usage?

[CFO] Actually, it has absolutely nothing to with any kind of market research that we've spent millions of dollars on.

[CEO] Oh. Well please elaborate.

[CFO] Well, you see, there's this guy named Shea Weber, who plays for the Nashville Predators. Our buddies who run the Flyers organization tried to screw this team over by signing Mr. Weber to a ludicrous offer sheet, that they pretty much knew would never be matched. And, well, the unthinkable happened. They matched the offer, and the Flyers were left with no Shea Weber. So I figured we'd show the Nashville market who's boss by selecting them to be the first to pay our new overage fees.

[CEO] I like it. We'll really stick it to those inbred hicks now!

END CONVO

Come on Paul, like Comcast or not, don't you think this is a bit far-fetched?

PS: Apologies for the long post.

Paul's comment about Comcast was obviously tongue-in-cheek. When someone says "Coincidence? I think not!" it's usually a wry joke. At least in my circles.

Oh, and Comcast sucks. Just thought I'd throw that in there in case my position wasn't clear. Did I mention Comcast sucks?

They're overpriced. Their customer service is crap, and I've had personal dealings with them as a business which I will never forgive them for. The fact that they support hockey will never be enough to get me back as a customer.

Btw, you know that automated attendant you call whenever you have problems with Comcast? My company built and installed those systems, and I can tell you right now that their firm desire was to prevent you, the customer, from reaching their customer service reps for as long as possible.

Nope! Sorry! I've had Comcast! I've had Dish! When I went to DirecTV I not only got better customer service, but I got more channels for a lot less money, and the audio/video was highly superior to either of the prior. It wasn't something I was looking for, but it was pretty obvious the moment I turned on my tv.

Enjoy your Comcast. They'll never be in my house again.

"D", we'll never agree on this debate but that's ok. I'm glad you and others use Direct, Dish, etc., because without competition, the service from any given provider would suck 10 times worse than they do now. (And they all have varying suck levels at times in one way or another. It's the unfortunate nature of the beast made up of technology, employees and large companies.)

It has probably been many years since you had Comcast and ironically, one reason I like them is the ease I have actually reaching a live person. The automated attendant is not too intrusive and fairly easy to get around. Granted, it wasn't always that way. (Now, the proficiency level of whomever you happen to talk to is another story and can be a problem - some are good; some terrible. All in recent years have been polite which is good.)

Large companies like Comcast, Direct, Dish, etc. continue to evolve as they must or else they will eventually fail.

Oh, I agree with you on the pricing part.

Customer Service not so much.

The reason for choices. I had Direct several years ago and had terrible issues with loss of service. My biggest complaint is with ATT/Uverse or whatever the F they want to be called by this week. They are a useless as tits on a male and much more annoying.

At least with Comcast, you are getting state of the art fiber optics iso twisted copper wire.

Even if I didn't have personal issues with Comcast, I don't like being gouged.

When we talk about which forward to add, I think the lesson learned from the Phoenix series is that we did not have enough size to combat their defense. That's why I liked the idea of Voracek or Bobby Ryan.

I even thought that using McGrattan on the PP in front of the net would have helped create some havoc. His skill level is much higher than the average fighter and I hope he gets a decent amount of ice time next season...especially vs. Detroit!

I still can't believe Tootoo is in Detroit... I hate it!! He will be missed, at least by me.

what do you guys think about NSH going after Shane Doan, there was an USA-Today article where Trotz was quoted that:

""If he is available, I know we will be high on his list because I know one of the things he's looking for is a team with a chance to win," Trotz said. "I'd check that off because he believes we are."

Trotz said Doan knows several Nashville players, including Weber.

"He's a great family guy and a great Christian athlete, and we fit into his framework in so many areas," Trotz said. "I think we have a big chance if he becomes available."

Speaking of, I wonder what a Christian Athlete is? Is he talking about Bible Thumper? If so I wonder if this this the reason that Rads was booted? Skill verses Morals?? Just thought that was a strange quote...

I think he's just referring to Mike Fisher among the others who might be Christians. Mike wrote a book about his faith earlier this year.
