I believe the 'Center' talk is Burkes way of saying no one will trade their centers to us, so we'll use this excuse to take the pressure off though it will 99% not work.

Chances are the lines will be
Lupul- Bozak - Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Kulemin

- wolfos412

That's the lines I'm hoping for but I could also see Carlyle doing something like this.

Lupul-JVR-kessel
Kadri-grabo-kulimen

But I'd like JVR to stay wing

Right I was mainly saying after they try the center thing for JVR I don't really see it working past the first 10 games. Who knows though maybe this offseason he is working really hard at the Center position, faceoffs positioning, backchecking etc...

Kadri working with Roberts all summer makes me think he'll be on the team.

He is not a fighter indeed, but the fact that a guy who knows he will probably lose a fight will still go out and fight to stick up for his team is a pretty good way to show your dedication and to pump up the rest of your team.

Luke Richardson was of that variety.

A very servicable, good guy. 21 year NHL career 1,400+ games not too shabby.

I hope Luke and JVR do well in their new environment

Absolutely. JvR is a talented kid, who got sidetracked by injuries. He should be a big factor for the Leafs

I think they have to give kadri a shot in the top six at least to start the year. You gotta see what you have in the kid, I'm not trolling just saying, who btw has a better ppg mark then Brayden schenn.

Agreed, I felt bad for the kid his entire time in Toronto, he should have been eased in and paired with a mentor to learn the game. Unfortunately he had no such thing to work with and was immediately the 2nd best dman on his team which was not a good thing.

A change of scenery and coaching + players I'm sure will do wonders for him and I garuntee that he will probably play his best games during the Philly vs. Toronto games this year.

He only needs to work on his speed (his first steps) and get his confidence back.
He has the skill to score goals as well but seems to shy to use it. Decent shot not huge but good enough.

Favourite clip of him at his most confident (besides all those hitting clips.)

- wolfos412

Every defensive defenseman loves that clip.

It's hard with the expectations and scrutiny for an 18 year old kid to step in and be a force right away. If both players reach their potential, then both the Flyers and Maple Leafs will benefit from the trade

Fine by me.... I have never minded baseball or other off-topic subjects in the message board in the dog days of the off-season. Just keep it within reason.

I think the main difference was that Brayden is being used at the Center position I believe and they probably have been weening him in at the 3rd line spot with gritty- less skilled players. Kadri has been a complimentary winger on the 2nd line with more talented players.

Once again I'm guessing I don't know for sure.

The Phillies should sign Shea Weber to an offer sheet

schenn will be a force.

with some coaching and work on his game, he will progress further this year than he did with Ron Wilson who is a horrible coach, i dont care what anyone says, or stats say.

Luke will lay some of the biggest hits you have ever seen, and on top of that isnt afraid to fight anyone...he isnt the best fighter, but because he is so big and strong he usually just manhandles the opponent..thunder chucking them around if you may..

gluck, i hope schenn services you well, and for our sake i hope JVR stays healthy, we need him to have an impact.

A fair comparison, though I will say Schenn does and will get more points than him. If he gets 20+ points on a terrible Leafs team, there's no reason he won't get more with a succeding Flyers team.

So did you like the schenn JVR deal?

Toronto will regret this trade imo.

The Philly culture and what seems to be a favourable mentoring environment is going to suit Schenn well. This kid is going to get nasty in orange and probably become an elite shutdown d-man. Good move for Philly to send a press box casualty for a solid young d-man.

If wilson was still the coach, yes, because he is an offensive minded coach.

With Carlyle I don't think it makes the most sense as it takes grit away from the team and a good defenseman. His system is a defensive system so unless another move is made I'm not totally happy with it.

So long as he stays healthy, JvR will likely score close to 30 goals this year.

I'm pumped about the prospect of watching Schenn develop into, hopefully, a shutdown blue-liner.

However, JVR is not a "press box casualty". That's insulting.

Agreed, that's troll talk, calling Schenn Elite and JVR basically a bust.

Both are good players.

hey, big_dion. big fan here.

jvr's production has been trending upwards each season and before he got all banged up this year, he was pacing towards 30 goals. since the leafs are lighter at forward than the flyers, i expect jvr will have the chance to do a lot more heavy lifting and hit 30.

Funny, but Luke Schenn was the one who was a healthy scratch last year at times, while van Riemsdyk played except when he was hurt.
