Wow, it's a double Panther fan fiesta in here. The contention that Theodore is good enough is dubious. He had his best year in forever last year and you made the playoffs by the skin of your teeth. You division got better and your team got worse. Even if he repeats his last year, it may not be enough. I know you guys might be patient about the future, but Tallon has to generate income and keep the momentum of improvement. Playoffs are the goal adn Lu can help with that. Whether Bjugstad is a star in 3 years or not, Lu can help get the playoffs for the next 3-6 seasons. That makes the trade not unreasonable.

So if you cannot get a proper return for Luongo and he is everything every nucks fan says he is and has a sensible cap hit and double presidents trophies etc etc then why not trade Schneider for a bigger return and go with Lou??

Fans forgive with a big next season, water under the bridge and you still have a top 5 proven goaltender in nets for years to come.

I'd have no problem with that and I was all for trading whatever goalie would get he best return. At this point though, it looks like Schneider is the starter and that's how it's going to go. But if I'm Gillis and can't get something useful back for Lu, I'm keeping the league's best backup, whether he likes it or not. Canucks were the best team in the league last year because of their goalies. Trading either one is a huge drop off at backup.

Bingo, but the Nucks problem is that the teams are limited, losing the leafs leaves the panthers only.

Bad news, you can say all you want 2 all stars is a great problem, and sure it is but thats 2 all stars where one hasn't asked forhis walking papers.

That doesmake it your problem if your looking for a large return from Toronto or Florida.

We need the goalie more than Florida, they have strong talent coming up, we don't know what we have.

Burke won't let Gillis rape him if a trade is to happen with the Buds, so for all parties included I wish someone would come out publicly and say WERE NO LONGER INTERESTRED.

Then a deal will get done much quicker

That is still definitely a possibility, but I think Gillis thinks that Schneider is (or is going to be) better then Luongo. If Chicago had it to do all over again don't you think they would have traded Belfour instead of Hasek

This is why Lu has not been traded yet, everyone thinks they have something over the other and its stalling everything and turning into LuongoGate

You're probably right, those guys would never stop asking, they would just write whatever nonsense they felt like.

Don't know anything about D'Amigo but Komisarek is not really a fit in Van unless you're taking Ballard back, and in that case, make the 3rd a 1st and it's a deal.

Edit - D'Amigo isn't looking like much of a prospect, make it Ashton instead...

Tony Gallagher who is close to the Canucks today said "Do not expect a Luongo trade any time soon. Gillis and Gilman are taking time off to enjoy part of the summer. It will be some time before a trade will happen and really there is no reason to hurry it.There is almost assured that there will be a work stoppage so there is no real poing to rush this. Luongo saved the team last year and was one of the best players and Canucks are lucky enough that they have another goalie that played even better"

This to me does not sound like Gillis is panicing and ready to take that salary dump that everyone keeps telling us we need to take.

Pogge was a stud and looked to be a keeper (pun intended), although I did see Rask steal the Silver from the US in Vancouver, he was great in that game. I think Pogge is an UFA, you could give him another go...

This is not entirely true a work stoppage makes Luongo a year older and theoretically less valuable to another team, If the Nucks want anything decent they can't just sit on Lou unless they decide to keep him and trade Schneider.

It's a distraction no one wants that for their teams Trade Lu at 33 not 34 obv

Let's face it the contract is what scares everyone away for the most part. But there is also the fact he is not a playoff performer. He is mentally shaky, if he couldn't get Vancouver over the hump how could he ever do it in Toronto?

A quick list of some of the current NHL tenders who post better numbers in the post season compared to the regular season:

Thomas
Quick
Smith
Hiller
Ward
Kipper
Theodore
Halak
Broduer
Vokoun
Miller
Anderson
Crawford
Nabokov

Schneider

Luongo plays great in the regular season but is Jekyll and hyde in the playoffs. Some games he plays outstanding then other times he gets pulled 3 times in a series. (in his defense on that Boston series he was hardly the only one to choke)

- Blazed

If he is bad why are you in here trying to convince us to take him then?

I agree, I don't think Gillis will take on any contract that isn't for a player that is an upgrade on something we already have, or fills a need. That does not mean he wouldn't accept a player like Komisarek, but there would have to be much more in the deal that appealed to him.

You cant do that to a ntc, if you waive no one can take him, that's effectively a trade

Gillis will not just give Luongo away just to "make a deal." I think people put way to much stock in this whole divided locker room theory. Luongo has been a part of the Canucks core for a long time now and is a professional. He has handled EVERYTHING the the Vancouver fans and media have thrown at him with complete class. If Gillis can't make a deal before the season starts. Luongo and Schnieder will most likely split games or AV will ride the hot hand until Gillis can find a deal that everybody is comfertable with. Gillis doesn't "have" to trade Luongo right away.

1970 assesed what the Canucks need on an earlier page, address those needs, no need to say he is worth this or that, if the Nucks can address those problems trade Luongo fill your small gaps and go on another run.

I've said it before ,Toronto have only 3-4 players of interest for the Canucks. They are untouchable in Burkes eyes, so Burke has moved on ,and Gillis has moved on but evey day we have fans in here telling us we have to take Komi. There is no deal .Let it go . If Luongo plays most of the year or full year here who cares .

Even there was a deal that both Gillis and Burke were happy with, there is still no confirmation that Luongo would waive his NTC to go to Toronto.
