Never been a Crosby fan because he's always crying wolf. he loves to dish it but expects no one will do the same to him.

Great player but the ultimate suck of the league!

If the current CBA contracting rules were to remain intact, would anyone really be all that shocked if some other team next summer offered a 23-year-old Pietrangelo a heavily frontloaded 20-year contract worth in excess of $200 million?

Uh ya ...I have a problem seeing that happen. Current rules create further restrictions after age 40 and I can't see his AAV being 2 or 3 milly per year higher then Weber's.

The more appropriate-ridiculous hypothetical might have been 17 years and 130 million or something like that. I think we're still a few years away from 200 million dollar deals (in a league where most teams hold a value less than that).

Blues wont let Pietro get that far. They have the money for him. Hes gonna be theyre highest paid player next year and with the longest contract on the team. Not to mention the next CBA will prolly not have front loaded and really long contracts in it.

Small Market Teams make playoff between cba to cba. Leafs don't. Leafs are Chicago Cubs of Hockey.

The Bruins will have Seguin, Marchand, Looch, and Tuukka.

If Harvard boy doesn't lock them up, or package some of them this year, then there is no question some desperate GM will try to get them.....and one thing Harvard boy isn't good at, is cap management

Losing is losing. The Flyers made a bad signing last summer with Bryzgalov. They have lost some key pieces this summer and have not replaced them.

I think the big test is Bobby Ryan. The Flyers want him. Several other teams are in the bidding. If they lose out to a mid market team (eg. Ottawa or Buffalo) we will know that there is something larger happening here. I do not expect the Flyers to get locked out the way the Leafs are being stonewalled but, clearly, the Flyers have hit a dry spot.

you sound like all the flyers fans out there lining up on the edge of the closest bridge. everyone should probably calm down. yes they lost carle. they lost jagr. but the core of this team is very young. 8 players under 25. they might not be as stong on d if they catch the injury bug again, but they're top 5 are pretty formidable. they still have a deep offensive squad. offense isnt the issue. its the back-end with bryz. time will tell how it all works out. going after bobby ryan and overpaying will be worse than losing out on him. to give a cooter/schenn AND a Dman ANd a pick is too much for this team. create holes where they are already gonna need everyone to stay healthy to stay very competitive. think about wht your saying..

They'd be stupid to trade for Ryan, when they could sign Doan and use all those Ryan pieces to clear salary and trade for another good dman (Yandle)...
