I was Born in 84 when the Dynasty ended. I sat next to a women on a plane one time that saw my hat and told me how growing up she was at all the stanley cup finals and saw the Isles win the cup multiple times.... She told me she was forced to be there and didnt even care to be there. I almost wanted to slap her, I would have give up everything I had to see Bobby N score that GWG! |

More fans and more winning would give Wang more leverage. Kate Murray could not make her little comments if the Isles were a consistent playoff team. Winning cures many things X. It's like trying to get big money from a job and you have a lousy resume. Wang has a lousy resume as Isles owner. - ses111
The sad part is, Wang is the best owner this team has ever had.

Born in January of 95. Only great Islander memory for me was Bates penalty shot in 02. I was 7 then. No other memorable playoffs for me - nyi365
Ive said it once before.. you young guys get MAJOR respect from me... There is ZERO reason for you guys to be loyal to this team... But here you are, my hat is off to you & I thank you deeply for your loyalty to a logo I care quite a bit about.

Garth cant do better than this?
BREAKING NEWS: The #Sabres have an OFFER ON THE TABLE for Bobby Ryan: Stafford+Adam+Sekera+1st/ Ball in #NHLDucks court
Holy Crapamole. Seriously??? We can't beat this? 1st, Stafford's NOT a center. Bailey/Strome/Nelson are. Who's Adam? Or Sekera?
And who's 1st pick will likely be higher next year?
How about throw in a 2nd RD Pick for 2014? Is that enough?
I'm not saying sell the farm but sheesh....WE NEED AN IMPACT PLAYER. NO ONES OFFERING THAT MUCH. WE CAN GET THIS GUY. - jmo16
No one said this offer was even being considered by the Ducks, just that it was offered.
Yha we might be able to beat it... but no one ever said it was able to win in the first place.

Probably can but seems like he won't...but how about this for Ryan:
Grabner (or Okpuso or Bailey)/ Nelson or Strome/ Dehaan or Donovan/ 1st rd pick... - kear20
Grabs, Bailey, deHaan and a 1st.
I like Grabner but he dropped off huge from Yr 1. Maybe it was the sophomore slump or being a new daddy or goalies figuring out he has no moves, just let him shoot & he'll miss the net most of the time.
I like Bailey too but he has not shown much progress in the last two years and I think Strome and Nelson will both exceed his performance. (we won't be able to keep all 3 for the future & none of them are 4th line centers)
CdH, GREAT SKATER but I think he's on the smallish side, especially after all the Dmen just drafted, and has had two shoulder injuries. Not good for a guy who's gonna be fore-checked and have his shoulders driven into the glass on a regular basis.
Our 1st pick next year OR a swap of 1st & 2nd round picks from Anaheim for 2013 draft. Hate giving up the 1st round all together and Anaheim still comes out on top.
Anaheim barely takes on any salary or increased cap hit. Bailey is an RFA at end of year so Anaheim is not married to him if he doesn't pan out.
This is a good trade for both sides. I doubt Anaheim gets a better offer.
Mark my words. |

CDH is probably around 190~ maybe more now and is 6'-6'1
That's average for a O-deff
Bailey made big progress when he switched to wing this year, potential top 6 winger
Grabner is a 25+ goal scorer who had an off year, but problem is we can't keep bailey and grabs in our top6 , and grabs can't play 3rd line checking but bailey needs more ice time than 3rd. So one of grabs or bailey will probably be traded |

Dee, Really, You do live on Long Island right? OK Sorry to burst your bubble but Mr. Monti is working with the VILLAGE OF HEMPSTEAD Kate Murray is the Supervisor of the TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD! These are 2 completely different locations with different governments, different zoning, different make up of communities, needs etc. Kate has NOTHING to do with any work Mr. Monti is involved in. PLEASE RESEARCH BEFORE WRITING! |

I wouldn't mind if Donald Trump jumped in. While I'm not a big fan of Trump, he'll definitely put pressure on everyone to work with him and if they don't he'll call them on it. - kear20
He'd end up selling Bottled water, with his name & face on it for like $5, beers would be $20 - like he does at Wollman Rink in Central Park. Trust me, we don't want the Donald involved.....you think Charles & Garth are control freaks? They'd seem like Woodstock hippies in comparison. |

Thats what us die hard fans do. Live by or die with their team.
Regardless of how I feel about how the team is managed.
I may complain but I'll be an Isles fan till I die. |

I never actually thought of it that way. I was born in 86, so the only real memories that stick out to me was my first Isles game when I turned 7 (isles won 5-4 over the mighty ducks of anaheim), the 93 team, bates penalty shot, and the dubie poke check. but in reality i dont know why i cursed myself in choosing to root for this team. its my favorite team of my favorite sport. I check on updates every single day multiple times. SO i guess i kind of fall into that category of not being around for the good days. So I thank you for the respect lol. Its been rough. |

I was watching that game at home by myself. Going absolutely crazy! Couldnt stand it.
The phone rings. It's my girlfriend. (future wife) She says to come over and watch the game at her house.
I jump in the car. Head down Wantaugh Ave to the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway to Seaford. She's 8 mins from my house in Levittown. I Have the game on the radio. WGBB 1240, I think.
I'm approaching the intersection of 135 and Sunrise Hwy when Bobby Ny scores. I nearly drive off he road. Screaming and yelling. Speeding down the road to catch the replay and the celebration on CableVision.
I had watched every game that yr. Every PO game. And I missed the Greatest Goal in Islander history.
You know what? I didnt give a Flying $@%#.
The Isles won the Stanley Cup and Long Island Went Wild!
It was a Great time to be a Long Islander. Everyone was Proud. We had accomplished something. Not just the Team. Everyone of of us who supported that team. We were a giant family. It was great. We thought it would never end.
Folks today dont understand that. |

Guys I was thinking about this after my friend brought this up. Im curious of your thoughts about this. I was watching the Olympics and they showed numerous stadiums that are obviously all over London and also on the outskirts. That being said, my friend brought up the idea of how much Long Island would have to be utilized if NYC had won the bidding for this years summer games. Mitchel Field, Eisenhower park etc would prob be expanded and redone, although MF is kinda new. Now I started thinking... many hotels and things would be build. Do you think that if the Olympics were here right now, the TOH would have been forced to do something about the coliseum?
Edit: Keep in mind the city was chosen in 2005. This was right around when the lighthouse was being proposed...no? |
