Since many consider the Rags the team to beat, we should have an in depth discussion on what advantages the Flyers have over the Rangers.
- PLindbergh31

They didnt give up schenn or couts for any players that were avalible. Glad homer didnt get rid of our young talent, signing Voracek to a long term deal was good as well.

So the rangers offer was more than Read, voracek, MAB and a 1?
- jstross

Yes and no. Voracek is easily the best and most talented player out of them all. Erixson is a more highly regarded defense prospect then MAB. But I feel as though that package would have been a better package then Columbus got overall from the Rangers. Columbus made a poor deal in my opinion.

Columbus really wanted to get at least one center back though (ended up with 2). For Columbus, they feel they got the better deal as they got centers back. The D prospect they got is more highly touted than MAB too.

Howson really shows that he has no clue on how to run a NHL team. Should of got more back for Nash, its not like he HAD to move him. He is really doing a bad job

Should of at least got Del Zotto or McD back tho. Howson had all the cards for him to play and he got played

Thanks. I was just curious on relative value.

Would you have traded Voracek, Read, MAB and a 1 for Nash a 3 and a prospecy? I suspect not.

He didn't have all the cards as he was limited by Nash to where he would go. But he did have another card to play. And that's to tell Rick Nash that I'm not trading you unless I get the right return. And unless you allow me to get more teams involved, I'm going to have a hard time doing that. So if you want to be traded, your going to have to work with me. Or you'll be playing in Columbus this Season.
The return he got from NY was not the right return.

No, I would not have given up both Voracek and Read.

We don't know if he had to move him or not. He may well have been told by ownership to get it done and get the best deal he possibly could. Nobody knows how much input Craig Patrick had on the trade, either. Patrick may well have decided that it was time to end the soap opera.

I also don't feel it was that terrible a trade. Had the bidding been open to more than a couple teams, sure. But it's not as if the Jackets got a bag of flaming dogpoop on their porch, either.

Oh there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout boxing, a white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out their ass. That's their one, that's their one. Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano. Let me tell you something once and for all. Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain't poop.

I believe as Mr.Saquella's location says, the children are the future, let them grow and lead the way. Perhaps an improved Couts, Schenn, Schenn and even G can be backbreakers for the rags.

Joe Louis had come out of retirement to fight Rocky Marciano the minute he was 76 years old. Joe Louis was always lying about his age. He lied about his age all the time. One time Frank Sinatra came in here and sat in this chair. I said Frank 'you hang out with Joe Louis, just between me and you, how old is Joe Louis?' You know what Frank told me, he said "Hey, Joe Louis is 137 years old." A hundred and thirty-seven years old!
