They are also rumored to covet Ennis, and Getzlaf is a free agent at the end of 12-13. Perhaps they feel they cannot sign him, therefore the urge to strike now.

I like T Dennis but teams would give heir left nut for Gets(see Tor, Mon, chi) all teams with deep pockets would wold sell the farm to race for him. They had been on record as saying that any deal for Ryan requires a center back. Soving Getzlafwould require 2 centers. When you move these types of players you want a set price. Hodgson and Tyler E. Would be part of the deal.

You have to stop thinking in absolute terms.

Just because the Sabres don't give them an additional center doesn't mean - with all the pieces the Sabres would be sending their way - they couldn't parlay some of those (coupled with their own piece(s)) into the centerman they need from another team.

Kind of like when the Sabres acquired center Steve Reinprecht, only to send him (minutes later) to Calgary as part of the Drury deal.

i think Hodgson has a bright future at center then Ennis ...... just let ennis go! hes had 25 games at center and really hasnt proven anything yet in the NHL.

I could go either way and be satisfied if we get ryan and getz. if we're only getting ryan, i'd rather give up hodgson
