Yea you would think you build around Ryan not trade him.
- SABRES 89

Especially with the liklihood that Getzlaf and Perry will not be able to be signed together in Anaheim. They are looking to play together for the rest of their careers, much like they already have.

I honestly think they have to on the way they treated him and if they are trying to get Perry and/or Getz locked up there going to need the space.

That whole thing seems to have gotten out of control.

He's not telling you that Ennis is a star player. He's simply stating his opinion. It's not directed at you. He's entitled to give it, just like you're entitled to give yours. Stop posting in such a condescending way and people will appreciate what you have to say so much more.

Not trying to start anything, just pointing out where the contention is coming from.

I appreciate you taking my back. I've been posting on this board for 4 years, I'm not ever attacking anyone. I post solid opinions, and I also think Ennis is sterotyped. Some people might need to watch him play more, small, yes. But there are big players that won't go to the net because they dont want to get hit. Ennis drives and can finish and is only 22 years old.

Thats's fair, I think if we did trade Ennis this year it would be a mistake in my opnion. I just would not want to start the year with 2 rookie centers that are 19 on my opening night.

But I could be wrong if that worked, I also realize that next year Getzlaf could be available and we could go for him. I want Ryan as bad as any of you, I would just try to use other pieces not named Tyler Ennis. But if we use him in the trade and we win the StanleyCup, I would be perfectly happy and say. "man I was wrong when I said not to trade Ennis."

I'm a Sabres fan more than an Ennis fan. Whatever works best for the team moving forward I can get on board with. I just think Ennis with Ryan and Foligno as a line would be nasty. Ennis would set those 2 up everynight and those 2 can worry about the hitting and finishing.

- Morskdog89

This.

I like Ennis as well, but if we could "upgrade" him, I'd say we should do it. I just don't know that Ryan is considered an "upgrade" since it leaves us very very thin at center. It could work. It could blow up in our faces. Who knows. It should would be interesting though.

i just dont think that doan will come to buffalo. didnt he actually travel to NYC, pittsburgh, philladelphia and montreal. i didnt hear any mention of him stopping at buffalo.

on a side note. i think leopold would be the easiest player on the sabres to be traded because we have good defensive depth, have alot of LHD, have alot of offensive dmen and he has great value. what does everyone else think?

He was only the 2nd pick behind Sidney Crosby. He also has been through hell in his life and has managed to come out and have a very good career already. He's still young and has some more upside I think.

But hey, let's treat him like crap and then wonder why he's not performing the way we want him to. Sounds like a winning mentality to me.

Really not sure what the Ducks are trying to do here.

Goose I would say that if you look at it from the position that we NEED Ryan is not an upgrade however, he's an upgrade over half our team and Darcy is in a bad spot with this deal.

True I feel if we want to upgrade, the best deal for this year would be to move Stafford and a top notch D prospect. Ryan is clearly an upgrade over Stafford and you still have your playmaking center.

If it has to be Ennis, I don't include much more.

The ownership team in Anaheim has a self-imposed cap that they will not go over. This is in large part that they have a terrible time getting ticket sales, and if anyone watched the Anaheim/Buffalo game last seaon there are more opposing fans in attendance at the Ducks games. Because of this, I do not see the team spending the money to keep Getzlaf and Perry. Otherwise they are really subjecting themselves to being very thin on every other line. Selanne will not likely come back after this year and I believe that Koivu will follow suit. Emerson Etem is their next Selanne... we will see what happens though.

Exactly, that is how I feel.

I know we drafted 2 centers, which is awesome, don't get me wrong. But they are still kids.

I feel Darcy is in a tough spot with this because positionally it might hurt our team. Unless they think Luke Adam can play center, and I highly doubt he can.
Luke Adam could be a solid 2nd to 3rd line winger in my opinion in the NHL.

yeah buddy! ennis is legit, the kid can play! taller players take up alot of space and shrink the ice for the opponents but if you are as quick as ennis is and have his hockey IQ then i think it is a wash.

i've never watched many ducks games. idk how ryan looks out there so i cannot comment on that. i only seen highlights and scoresheets of him. any anaheim fans here care to enlighten people like me?

Absolutely. That's why I said I'm kind of indifferent either way. I like both players. I would hate to lose one to get the other, but at the same time, I wouldn't be upset about getting Ryan. I like him as a player. He can take over a game. He played very well in the Olympics. I think he can really be an impact player. I think Ennis can as well though, so as far as that goes, it's pretty even IMO. Ennis has just had less time to do it so far.

So do I, I think we have seen glimpses of him taking over a shift or 2 a game. But we have not seen him lead his line to take over a game yet. But could you imagine a line of Ryan Ennis and Vanek or Foligno, I feel ennis could get 65 assists lol

I thought when he was a rookie and played in that NHL series against the Bruins, other than Vanek he was our best forward.

I find this interesting because I never understood why they moved him away from the Pommer/Vanek line. He was doing well to start the season, but when Hecht and Roy came back... he was demoted for them to play and then never rebounded. If he's given the opportunity, could he make it back?

I am sure this was discussed before, but I missed it I am sure.

Ennis is gonna be the best player in the NHL. I DARE anyone to tell me he won't be! I'm right and I know it!

and by the way, Hodgson sucks, the league is still in post-lockout form and Kassian was a god in a Sabres jersey.

Bobby can take over games. He is a step ahead of his competition, which is why I think they move him around a lot. He is a spark and gives 110% on every shift of every game. You can see some players that know they had a tough shift and it hampers their play, but not with Bobby. He is constantly giving everything he can and fights for whoever he plays with.

He's a playmaker, hustles to the puck, rarely out of position (in my opinion), and hits whenever he can. He wanted to fight half of the Sabres in their game when they played here last season. He HATED Kaleta at the end of the game. In fact he did fight someone (but i don't recall who).

Hell yeah. Luke Adam is a big "center", and since i was told earlier that this was a big boys league and things different, why did Ennis go to center, tear it up, and Adam got sent down?

ANSWER: because Ennis is legit. He has a hard nose for the net. Just because he is small doesn't mean he is expendable.

Ennis has 92 points in 140 games, in 13 playoff games, he has 8 points.

I know that is a small sample, but like I keep saying, kid just turned 22. I think we have a lot left to see.
