Why bother? The Leafs lost ground to the Habs, Islanders, Hurricane's and Tampa. Buffalo and Winnipeg stayed status quo. Even if New Jersey and Ottawa decline slightly, the Leafs still can't match them, player for player. Which roster would you not trade, even up, in the east, if you were the Leafs?

Buffalo - Derek Roy being gone will hurt. Steve Ott helps. I guess maybe the same

Tampa Bay - Lindback has never shown he could be anything more than a backup. Loss of starting goalie

I've put a lot of time into watching the leafs loose over and over again and not get a lottary pick go in there favor. I would love to see us get a top two pick but I can garauntee that the leafs finsh last they loose the lottary draft too.

Realisticly if BB gets a goilie of bobby lu's calaber we sneak in to the play offs. Not making a play for a goalie it will be another shortend season for the blue and white.

That being said knowing we would make the playoffs would that alone be enough to make a move for louongo? And at what cost?

I would make the move for Colborne, Connolly and a third.(Max) then it would give us time to develop reims and scribs and trade louongo in two to three years from now.

We have a chance at trading for bobby ryan this summer.

We have a chance to acquire either bernier or luongo for goalie.

Lets say stewart doesnt progress well in st.louis this season again under their coach and the system he works. Could very well end up in toronto.


Then you have UFAS next summer like getzlaf, perry, filippula, horton though i do believe filippula, getz and perry will be resigned unless the ducks go into a full rebuild and ryan goes first and then getzlaf and then perry. Bruins are in a tight spot next summer so horton will be availalbe. Weiss will be resigned by florida. Hes basically like the captain.

Then theres the long rumoured player stasny.
