Not at all...Stastny to team X has been discussed several times over...its just I havnt discussed it thoroughly within a blog, and with the rumors of Jbo being traded, I saw a fit.

The honey comment was meant towards Leafs fans swarming over when they saw his name

For sure, any available top center is going to be battled over by Leafs/Flames!

The only for sure next year is
Columbus GP82 Points Below 65 go for last in the NHL but still wont win the first overall in the draft, even Gary wont waste a great prospect go there with the first overall

I stand corrected, thought the Devils finished 8th for some reason.

Not being a DB, just figured I'd let you know

Would be really cool if it were two eight seeds in the Cup Final though.

Anyone have a link to the opening ceremonies? I can't watch it on CTV's website because I need to install something that I don't have administrative rights to install.

Buffalo - Stationary: Roy out, Ott in. Good future down the middle with Ennis,Hodgson,Grigorenko and Girgensons though.

Tampa Bay- Improved: Lost no key players and acquired Carle,Salo,Pouliot,Crombeen and Lindback

Carolina- Drastically improved: Sutter out, Jordan Staal and Alex Semin add to a good top 6 of forwards. Cam Ward is an all-star and Skinner and Faulk have great careers ahead of them.

Winnipeg- Slightly improved: Lost character player in Tanner Glass and signed top 6 centre Oll Jokinen.

Toronto - Slightly improved: Deeper on defense then on forward so Schenn for JVR trade is good for the team. McClement should help the size on the bottom 6 and hopefully the penalty kill.

NY Islanders- Slightly improved: That is with the Visnovsky acquisition but now that trade might not even go through. If the trade is null then they will be stationary

Montreal- Slightly improved: Picked up character guys in Prust,Armstrong and Boullion

Even after all of this, the games have to be played. But I'm basically guaranteeing that Rangers,Bruins,Penguins,Flyers make it. Then Caps or Canes will win the south-east with other team making the 6-7 seed. The other 2 spots are basically up for grabs to every other team in the East

Think he's saying that Columbus will finish dead last, but Bettman will rig the lottory so that the #1 overall pick doesn't end up in the NHL's butthole, Columbus.

The only real big surprises last year were the Florida Panthers and the New Jersey Devils. The Panthers did what the Lightning were suppose to do while the Devils went all the way to the finals. Outside of that, the Rangers, the Penguins, the Flyers, the Bruins, the Capitals all made the playoffs as everybody expected them to.

While the "experts" had Ottawa pegged for 15th, it was a poor assessment. The Senators were ranked so low because of the year they had prior. Fact is, they were very injured and had no goaltending. That changed with a healthy team and adding Craig Anderson. Were they a lock to make the playoffs? No, but they should have been expected to fight for a playoff spot.

I'm not talking about exact placements in the standings by the way. I'm talking about teams that make the playoffs. More often than not, there are five or six teams who are locks to make the playoffs with the final two or three spots being up in the air to which team is the healthiest and has the best goaltending.

- Two_For_Truth

You weren't surprised when the Leafs went from playoff bound to second last in the last 3 weeks? I was. Its also why I am utterly confused why this Leaf team who are only adding young assets coming off a deep playoff run (hello Ottawa) is in the same spot or worse than last year and will finish bottom 5 again.

I've always disliked Thomas you know this!!!

But do you seee us going after a goalie? If so what do you think we have for options?

- celata29

You can afford to take a chance on Bernier, if rask falters throw in the kid...

Doubt Bernier wants another backup roll but seems like a good option for a strong team.

Bernier is only a year younger than Rask so they're both pretty much "kids". If the Bruins are looking for insurance for their young goalie, they should probably get somebody a lot older and more experienced. Possibly, another Finnish goaltender like Antero Niittymaki.

I concur however I wouldn't say Buffalo is stationary. Just like us, it's hard to say what a full healthy season from their #1 goalie would get them. Miller can carry this improving team.

I find it funny how we are all talking about the outside teams

If it were the same rosters going in I would say

PIT
BOS
WAS
NYR
CAR
OTT
BUF
PHI

That would be a good problem for them. Therefore I do not want this to happen.

The only team that is genuinly declining is NJ.

Ottawa has a slight chance of regressing, but I expect them to be in the thick of it.

Buffalo should be improved with a full season with Hodgson and Erhoff, as well as a rested Miller.

At the same time, it's hard not to guarantee CAR gets a playoff spot.

TB will be a playoff team if they get even average goaltending out of Lindbach

Simply put, we're in really tough to make the playoffs, simply because the east just got that much better this summer

Indeed however I don't think TB is there yet, they improved with Carle, but Smith > Lindback and we saw what happened to him. Lindback is good but I would be half decent behind Suter/Weber. This team will be good but I think it's more in 2-3 years when Takarski and co. make the jump. I think you are right about Buf and Car tho, those teams could do some serious damage.
