Maybe he thinks they lost the Schenn JVR trade? I think they won that trade personally though. - celata29
trade is a wash...they're both underachieving players. |

Hackett you mean Harding is now 28 and never managed to come close to taking Backstroms job. - AdamFrench
Gotta point something out here....Harding just signed a contract extension to be a backup? Food for thought. |

Drunk driving went really well for the Bulin wall. Jury's out on Jokinen, he's a decent centre, but I don't think he can repeat last year's numbers. - mykokes
Khabibulin played amazing in the first quarter of the season for the Oilers and you can check his numbers if you don't believe me.
Also, let's try to keep in mind that Khabibulin's career is almost over whereas Pavelec is just starting to prove he's a legit starting goaltender. It's a night and day comparison. Unless Pavelec has to serve some jail time and misses half the season, I wouldn't expect him to have a worse year this year.
Jokinen is good for 50 points, at worst and as many as 60. He cost them nothing to acquire. Can't see his addition being a negative. |

It's not so much about him retiring as much as it is about his obvious political views clashing with playing in what he would consider ultra-socialist Canada. This is a guy who skipped the White House meeting because he disagreed with Obama, could you imagine what he would think of Canadian government? - Two_For_Truth
I couldnt care less about all that, all he has to do is say I dont want to play in Canada. No problem.
Although I dont see how playing in Canada a season or two makes any difference, it doesnt mean he becomes a Canadian citizen, he can still keep his views and update his facebook from Canada.

sweet so we can get Getzlaf for Connolly, Lombardi, Komisarek and Orr. - big_dion
Lol
Obviously NO, but I'd be happy if we could unload even one of those contracts as part of the package. |

Buffalo had some big expectations last season, I'm sure we all remember the influx of Sabre posters on our threads
- mykokes
And they might have had a better shot at it if Miller was playing like everybody knows he can. Unless Lucic decides he wants to decapitate him again, odds are Miller will be back to normal. |

Unlikely. You're not going to give a salary dump if you're acquiring a player like Getzlaf, especially because he doesn't necessarily have to be traded kind of like Ryan does. |

I think his political views have already strongly implied that.
Playing in Canada means he has to most likely live in Canada. It also means he has to pay Canadian taxes and live under socialist policies.
It would make a huge difference to him. |

Wow some blind squirrels in here. And some call yourself fans? Lol how did the Leafs decline by adding JVR and another checking Center? I liked Schenn but nothing that cannot be replaced with what we already have. And the offseason is not done yet.

We lost 261 man games to injury last season. More than any other team that made the playoffs. We couldn't create any chemistry long term because someone was always hurt. Versteeg is finally healthy. Kulikov is healthy. Upshall is healthy. Garrison was never going to resign here. Goaltending always worries me.
But I think Kuba=Garrison. Forget the 16 goals. They were ALL one timers from the point on the PP. All of em. All passes from Brian Campbell. Samuelsson didn't want to resign here, either. All things considered, I think we have remained status quo. If Mueller turns it up it'll be the steal of the off season. Huberdeau has some shoes to fill for sure. But he led our team in points last pre season so it's obvious he can score here. He just wasn't big enough. What's the point in drafting elite talent if you don't utilize them? We were never going to go after Parise, Doan, or Semin. Ever. We'll have to wait and see. But we didn't lose anyone significant enough to say we are "declining".

With the Capitals and the Lightning stumbling around for most of the season last year, the Panthers were lucky to win the division. I wouldn't say they have a great shot at winning their division again but could probably fight for that 7th or 8th spot like Washington did last year.

Completely agree. I really believe that the reason we had so many OT losses last year was because of our injuries. We were just gassed. Hopefully we stay healthy and don't get to OT all the time. But I can see us in that 6-8 area. |

Nothing we can do but wait unfortunately. He looked like a boy amongst men at development camp a few weeks back. Was really fun to watch. We also have Quinton Howden who may make the jump, but will most likely start the season in the AHL. This is all of course assuming we even have a season next year |
