Buffalo - Derek Roy being gone will hurt. Steve Ott helps. I guess maybe the same
Tampa Bay - Lindback has never shown he could be anything more than a backup. Loss of starting goalie
Winnipeg - Trouble surrounding Pavelec, and Kane isn't resigned - brandon2743
Buffalo - Roy sucked last year. If Ott can muster 40 points and be as physical as he always is, the Sabres didn't lose anything. Keep in mind Miller missed a lot of time last year so add that to the equation.
Tampa Bay - They added Carle and Salo thus strengthening their defense. Lindback has to be better than Roloson, who was horrendous last year with a 3.66 GAA and .886% in 40 games so technically, Garon was their starter. The Lightning did not get worse.
Winnipeg - Trouble with Pavelec? Drunk driving in his home country shouldn't ruin his season this year. Kane will be resigned, it's just a matter of dollars and cents. Winnipeg is either the same or slightly better by adding Jokinen.
None of these three teams got worse, in fact, you could easily argue at least one, if not two of them got better. |

The only real big surprises last year were the Florida Panthers and the New Jersey Devils. The Panthers did what the Lightning were suppose to do while the Devils went all the way to the finals. Outside of that, the Rangers, the Penguins, the Flyers, the Bruins, the Capitals all made the playoffs as everybody expected them to.
While the "experts" had Ottawa pegged for 15th, it was a poor assessment. The Senators were ranked so low because of the year they had prior. Fact is, they were very injured and had no goaltending. That changed with a healthy team and adding Craig Anderson. Were they a lock to make the playoffs? No, but they should have been expected to fight for a playoff spot.
I'm not talking about exact placements in the standings by the way. I'm talking about teams that make the playoffs. More often than not, there are five or six teams who are locks to make the playoffs with the final two or three spots being up in the air to which team is the healthiest and has the best goaltending. |

Right now I have Rask (winter classic), Bergeron (home), Marchand (home), Seguin (away) Seidenberg (home w/cup patch, because he was the unsung hero of the cup run) Horton (Alternate)
And a game used signed Joe Thornton jersey, but we won't talk about that |

Drunk driving went really well for the Bulin wall. Jury's out on Jokinen, he's a decent centre, but I don't think he can repeat last year's numbers.

It's not so much about him retiring as much as it is about his obvious political views clashing with playing in what he would consider ultra-socialist Canada. This is a guy who skipped the White House meeting because he disagreed with Obama, could you imagine what he would think of Canadian government? |

Maybe he thinks they lost the Schenn JVR trade? I think they won that trade personally though. |
