If the Leafs chances of making the playoffs depends mainly on the hope of other teams in the East sucking badly than the Leafs are behind the 8 ball even b4 the season even starts. Has it really become this woefull in Leaf Land that we as Leaf fans have like no confidence in our team? In my 36 years of following the Leafs & this includes some VERY lousy years in the 80's under Ballard's circus, I think this is now the suckiest time I can ever recall being a Leaf fan. |

I like the methodical and cautious approach BB and management are showing.
Last time we had he CBA run out we were caught with our pants down.
Some teams will be caught with their pants down and that's when we pounce.
Yes...it is taking a little longer than it should... but BB is doing fine. He hasn't really handcuffed us long term.
Patience Leafs Nation... I would rather be strong for a decade than 3 years. |

The East teams in no particular order & what I think of them going into next season:
Boston: Will be the same which means they will be great.
Buffalo" NO WAY they will be as bad as next year. They had a fabulous late run & almost squeaked into the 8th spot. WILL BE IMPROVED!!
Carolina: They also won't be as bad as last year. They are a jekyl & hyde team. Usually after a non playoff season they seem to bounce back. Will definetley be in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Florida: Will have to work twice as hard to prove last year was ni fluke. Will definetly be a team fighting for a playoff spot.
Montreal: New attitude, new GM, new coach will certainly be better than last year.
NY Islanders: Much like the Leafs, they rest their hopes on the decline of other teams in the East. Don't see them taking a step forward.
Ny Rangers: Definetly a top contender for the Cup.
New Jersey: Always competitve but they lost there heart & soul in Parise. I see a decline this year, but in NJ land this means they'll find a way to male the playoffs..
Ottawa: Always competitive. Should make the playoffs.
Philadelphia: Always tough, pretty much a lock to make the playoffs.
Pittsburgh: Will be great as usual this year.
Tampa Bay: Lousy defense, uncertain goaltending will be there downfalls. I see them not making the playoffs.
Washington: I think they'll win their divison this year.
Toronto: In woeful Leaf land we like the Isles must rely on the declone of other teams, so let's see..... in no particular order... guaranteed top 4 playoff spots: Boston, Pittsburgh, NYR & Wash . Then Phil, NJ & Ott will finish between 5th & 8th. That leaves JUST 1 playoff spot open: It will be a dog fight in this group:
Montreal, Florida & Carolina. Leafs, Bolts & The Isles will be on the outside looking in, I believe long b4 the playoff hunt heats up.
Next season the Leafs will not be as lucky as last year when so many teams in the East struggled. Leafs has a GLORIOUS chance to make the playoffs at least for one season, it was pretty much handed to them but they dropped the ball. What are the odds of all those other teams struggling once again? Not likely.
Yes folks, confidence in Leaf Land has never been higher, NOT

How about Leafs get Tim Thomas & just give us next year. Thomas will play next year JUST NOT in Boston. How much can Boston want for this guy? Boston is dying to get $5 mill salary off the books or else they will have to pay this guy to sit at home & watch the Price is Right everyday. Plus Thomas has 1 year left on his contract, if it doesn't work out in TO, than next summer u say BYE BYE.
LEAFS just make the FRICKEN playoffs already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Leafs CANNOT hand the reigns to Reimer & Scrivens untill they prove themselves on the NHL level. Leafs sorely need a veteran in net untill that happens. |

That's why THomas fits the criteria for the Leafs. Leave Scrivens in the AHL next season, give Reimer the gift of time letting him develop under the mentor THomas, see how it goes at the end of next season. If it's obvious that Reimer & or Scrivens is ready to handle a heavy NHL workload, let THomas walk away as a UFA. |

Yes, on the Leafs 4 Life website, I wrote a blog on how I believe the Leafs NEED Thomas. I got 37 responses, not 1 person agreed with me. In fact one butt head even went as far as to say, the blog was a waste of time. The morons all seem to think that Thomas won't play anywhere next year. I don't believe this to be true. He just doesn't wanna play in Boston.
Thomas lost his marbles in Boston YES, he just needs to get out & get a change of scenery. |
