#Pens finalizing contract w/ F Jayson Megna, a prospect camp invite out of Nebraska-Omaha, stood out in camp with high-end speed and skills
from earlier but i wonder who he is and if he is a center or winger
edit: found his bio...
http://www.omavs.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3972
found some videos of him fighting and some shootout goals... he looks like he plays like iggy.. scores and fights, throws the body around.. could be a good wb/s pickup - nh4442

#NHL *Rumor*-- Bruce Garrioch reports The #Pens are ready to offer #Coyotes Shane Doan a 4-year/$24M contract.
i think that is reasonable for doan... if it is true which its not bc its on twitter, you would think doan would take that to play with sid and genoh wait thats right players these days want money instead of playing with superstars.... - nh4442
Ahh... Bruce Garrioch, the guy who started the "Malkin to the Kings" rumor a couple seasons ago.
I can't see Shero giving Doan 4 years. He's proven time and time again, that he doesn't like to give older players more than two years. I'd see him going to three years as basically a cost of a UFA (you seem to have to give on extra year), but 4 is too much, especially at $6 mil. If you have to go 4, I'd like to see it $5 mil a year max.
If someone gives him $6+ mil for 4 years, have fun with him... |

absolutely.
Speaking of Iginla, what do you think a deal for him costs at the deadline? I can't really think of a comparable rental player in the last few years that was traded at the deadline. |

Mayyyybe Keith Tkachuk. He had great stats with grit. Iginla will fetch a good return though because like you said, even Gaustad got a 1st rounder. |

i see the asking price on iginla to be very high. i honestly dont even think they move him just because of who he is and the fact that the flames just are too stubborn |

Considering he would be a rental(unless he re-signs in Calgary during the season), I would think that may force Calgary's hand in trading him. They cant afford to lose him to FA for nothing. We could end up being a decent trading partner for them because if they deal JBo elsewhere, they will be looking for help on D. |

We would have to give up at least one high end prospect. Harrington, Doumolin, Matta etc. As to what Shero would be willing to part with, it would greatly depend on whether or not Iggy is willing to re-sign for 2-3 yrs with Pitt. Post Hossa, Shero hasnt given up anything but draft picks for rentals. If he is sending more than conditional picks the other way, then it is a sign and trade or a wink, wink, nudge, nudge that Iggy is going to re-sign upon completion of the deal. |

i think iggy still has enough in him that i would definitely part with one of those guys if he was on for another 3 years |

They would have to be a starting point in addition to roster player(s) and pick(s). |

If we give up a high end prospect(s) and picks it better be for a player that is going to have a future here. Its outlandish to give up too much for a player that wants to stay in Calgary and will be playing for a non-playoff team yet again. Shero learned his lesson with Hossa, and that was a deal that he thought would pay off with a new contract for Hossa and a big hole filled. How did that turn out? We got Dupuis. Not bad, but that was pure luck on our part that Atlanta(Winnipeg) was willing to throw him in. If its not a Bobby Ryan type---I don't want to see proposals with top prospects and picks. It just doesn't make sense. Shero most likely goes after players with the future in mind the way he did with Neal and Niskanen. |

yeah. i really dont see us having that many crucial roster players though. obviously none of the big guys get moved, and i dont see someone like kennedy having a ton of value |

Does anyone here, DEEP DOWN, not love the whole Giroux/Crosby thing? In my opinion it just increases an already ugly rivalry and will be great for hockey.
As for what Giroux said, I have no doubt that it is true, but I also understand that it is HOCKEY. Giroux is not a choir boy out there either. Couple that with hit big hit Giroux laid on Crosby in the final game, and things just escalated big time.
It just sucks we play the third game of the season, and then NOT AGAIN until February!

Their D is awful expensive at the current juncture with JBo, Wideman and Giordano. Some young, cheap, NHL ready Dmen would be right up their alley and a guy like TK might have enough value as "filler" in a trade along with other more prized assets. Another team might take a flyer on TK being that he is an RFA next year, and I cant believe Shero would offer him anywhere near 2mil again to re-sign. |

That's the trouble... If Iginla wants to move to a competitor at the deadline, a smart team in Calgary's situation would recognize that they need to rebuild, and take something involving a 1st round pick, a good prospect, and a young roster player for him.
But we are talking about Feaster, who gives out NTC's like candy, and when needing some soon arriving talent, traded down and took a high school kid that won't be in Calgary before Feaster is gone. |

I agree. Although I do like that they will play 5 games between Feb and April. That is when games matter and with that amount they can all get their hate really going. No one really cares during the games in October. |
