...yep that high..
Not a good summer for Doug Wilson so far. - Al
San Jose, Detroit and Nashville have all had poor summers. If Phoenix loses Nash (to a team other than these three) the Hawks should easily finish ahead of all 4 teams.
Vancouver and St. Louis will still be regular season power houses, but I am wondering when the Hitchcock bubble will burst for the Blues. LA got hot going into the playoffs, will they continue this or revert back to their form during the 11/12 regular season?
Stan should have done more to improve the team, but he got lucky that only Western Conference team to significantly improve itself (so far) is Minnesota, and they still make not be a playoff team. |

The more important concern, IMO, is that they can't put a winning team around him (and Kane, if he's still here) so that they both walk when they become UFAs. - StLBravesFan
If we had landed Brodeur, Doan might very well have followed. We NEED A GOALIE to have renewed organizational CRED.

I am by no means a fan of crawford. I think even at his best you would still be hard pressed to find 5-7 starting goalies worse than him. But, he was starting to pick his play up towards the end of the regular season.
Before March 1st he had a 2.94 GG and a .900 SV%. But his last 11 regular season games hes posted an 8-1-2 record with a 1.85 GAA and a .921 SV %
Hopefully he has a nice bounce back season and all won't be lost. |

I think it's pretty safe to say that we'll start the season with Crawford as our #1 goaltender. The only potential move I see Stan making is acquiring Luongo and that's a long shot.
It was only a year ago we were singing Crawford's praises, I think he deserves a shot at redemption next season.

In richard cloutier's blog he says: "Word is leaking out from Montreal that PK Subban and the Habs are not having a happy time signing the defenseman to a new contract. I've also heard rumors over the last 24 hours that Subban wants out."
If that last part is true, could Stan find a trade partner? Stalberg and Hammer in some sort of package for Subban?

Hitch hasn't been there very long...His message shouldn't be old. That will most likely happen after the players have some playoff success and figure they know it all. |

If Montreal was looking to deal PK to Chicago I get they would want Leddy in return instead of Hjalmarsson. Markov is their only decent puck moving defenseman and he has major injury issues. |

The crux of the story is because a rumor came out on a big contract offer that supposedly Subban didn't want to sign. According to Subban's agent the story is false and there hasn't been an offer as the one reported.
Subban here doesn't help much at all unless he replaces Keith on the PP and even then....
Subban may be ahead of Leddy defensively but ....He took over two times as many shots as Leddy last season and got a lot more PP time and still wound up with fewer points.

Thanks Al for reminding folks of this. As you have been saying over and over, need to see Keith's PP time decrease (or simply remove him from PP) and move Leddy onto the 1st PP unit.
Personally, I like him on the point with Seabs, that seemed to be a good unit in the making and then of course, it got scrambled again. 2 guys with heavy point shots.
Maybe Tampon will try that combo to stop the PP bleeding . . . |

Subban has a lot of talent and a great athelete, he could be a real stud someday..
But if he played in Carolina or Florida he wouldn't have the build up he does now.

Thought Subban hits like a Stud, something lacking outside of Seabrook
Seabs-Keith
Subban-Oduya

Damn straight! Perhaps you've missed my continuous support for his acquisition?
But I do have the standard worries...
Contract length, and the cost in players going the other way. |

It's actually pretty quiet on the Luongo front, there's more talk about Doan and Arnott. Much like every other city Vancouver feels Doan is destined to join their team if he decides to leave the Coyotes. Doan does have some family ties in BC (in-laws) and his owns a business here but I doubt that's enough on it's own. Apparently there's some mutual interest between the Canucks and Arnott, he could fill their need for a third line centre.
I'm on the fence about Luongo. By preference would be to give Crawford another shot, but if Stan acquired Luongo for the right price I wouldn't be upset. |

PK is hyped but he's also a stud playing well over his head at 22 years old. He'll be great in a couple seasons If he can check his emotions on the ice. way better defensively and physically than Leddy. Right handed shot and has 21 goals in 2 seasons.
Hope the flyers have him pegged as plan b for Weber. I'd take a flyer on him if he won't sign in Montreal. Jmo. |

He takes over 200 shots, Leddy had less than 100 ...He has a cannon but his skating and passing isn't better than Leddy. |

Wouldn't want Leddy on the flyers..... spends to much time getting man handled on the boards. I know he has some offensive pop but that's where it ends with him. PK is much better overall.... but like I said he needs to reel in his emotions.... he's too easily goaded into dumb penalties imo. |

He is a different player who is more physical and plays defense better.
Leddy is a better skater and passer.
Leddy's numbers in his first two years are better than most dmen his age...Better than Keith had.

A different player who would be more desirable in many places...But Bowman doesn't acquire physical dmen who would play top 4 mins... |
