Since I believe that man-made (including your SUV, and my car) global warming is an issue, consider this from a self righteous know-it-all who only wants to control your behavior:

Your argument based entirely on denigrating your opponent, without any logic or facts to back it up, will convince no one about your beliefs or your ability to understand the issue.

The only whack religion is that practiced by the owners of Chic Fil A, In And Out burgers, and any other organization run by "self righteous know it all's whose ultimate goal is regulating (my) behavior".

- StLBravesFan

First its not an issue. Why? Cuz the same types of whack jobs crying "hot" now were the ones crying "cold" in the mid-1970's; to the point of wanting to paint the polar ice caps black so Big Ben doesn't freeze. Look up the Time magazine article; even on the cover page, right out there for everyone to see. There were also other times in the last 150 years where planetary temperatures were higher than in 1998, the so-called "turning point".

Another big one - and why I pulled my kids out of school the day they tried to ram inconvenient BS down their throats - is temperature rise causes CO2 increase, not the other way around as purported by the guy who also created the internet. That's why his graphs are illustrated in the thousands of years at a time. Zooming into any part of the graph shows the real truth, temp rises years ahead of CO2. If he were to ever show a plot where the X-axis in years ranged only 50 or even 100 years, his silly argument would go right out the window.

Its funny how all these alarmists back in 2000 through 2005 - and this is all about money, hence power & control - were crying Mickey and Minnie were going to be flooded out of their Florida home by now have changed their tune. Even the name --- "global warming" was conveniently changed (pun intended) to "climate change". And this was just in the last several years. Just like libs always do, when the facts point against them, re-frame the argument, point fingers, call people names and to top it off, throw out some inflammatory words to boot.

Don't be fooled by the BS. Look it up, do some research. No one has to be a scientist to probe into the facts and find out the truth. The planet is not going to go into some uncontrollable or thermal runaway condition because people drive SUV's. But the guy flying around in private jets, the one whose home has a "carbon footprint" 20-100x more than anyone else is telling us we have to cut back. And its the foundation of another BS program; Cap & Trade. They shouldn't be selling it and no one should be buying it.

Lastly, Chick-Fil-A isn't regulating anyone's behaviour. If one doesn't like their product or their message, don't go there. If I found a particular business not to my liking because of their beliefs or whatnot, I simply won't go there but they're not regulating me like the Gov't. Speaking of regulation (cuz if you can't legislate, then regulate), here's a doozie that can have a lasting cost-of-electricity affect on anyone in IL that uses electricity: http://www.chicagotribune...-20120731,0,2001116.story

What did you have in mind? I fear if it's anything like E85, a beer will go from $9 to $12.

I like to read. For those interested in the whole corn/grass fed/wild hog hunting etc. let me recommend a book for our club. It's called The Omnivore's Dilemma, by Michael Pollan. Read it and you'll never look at a Big Mac or any other food the same way again.

Dude, the article where they had a mcdonalds "burger" sit on a shelf for a year with no visible signs of decomposition kind of ruined fast food for me for forever.

My argument has always been Dinosaurs used to live in Minnesota, especially when someone is being ridiculous. Latest core samples from Scandinavia? I think show that we are actually in a period of overall cooling. Google is being a poop face and only bringing up pro global warming sites at he moment.

That is a crazy article and hopefully people can see the impact of that nonsense. I don't disagree that cleaner alternatives should be developed but not at what could be a very large expense to the every day working American tax payer.

Remember when a certain senator in 2008 who happens to be president now said "if someone wants to build a coal plant they can but it will bankrupt them" and "here is the winners we are picking"

The greenskeeper at my golf club always solves the problem every early spring. When he spots the male and female walking around the ponds together all of a sudden one of them disappears, presumably the female.

And my handicap has not improved since he started doing that but my shoes are much cleaner after a round of golf.

Ha, that may have something to do with global warming. It's gumming up their internal GPS. They stay all year round here too, in the spring there's a new gaggle with every pair.
- djd

We had a really mild winter last year but the preceeding five were brutal...I think they are just getting accustom to everything.

They lay down in open fields and seem to almost hibernate...wind, snow doesn't matter.

I lived on dedicated wet lands and the geese would come in the spring only...Once the wild flowers etc grew tall enough where by they couldn't see what was approaching them they would leave...That's why a golf course pond or retention pond is perfect for them...Unfortunately they would come back in the winter.

IMO they're in a bit of a correction mode like JJ cited; no longer holding the mantra "we're the Chicago Blackhawks, and we know you want to play here".

Also, there may be some conservative approach regarding the CBA not as much as it affects the start of the season but longer-running impacts of the new CBA.

One thing I believe for sure is if the NHL and the NHLPA want to screw up the momentum they gained since the last lockout, any work stoppage will do just that.

Regardless of who is "right" and who is "wrong", the perception will continue to be by many folks that Billionaire owners and Millionaire players just can't figure out some happy medium.

See the Trib article about IL coal plants considering ch-11? Yup, if you can't legislate, regulate. All part of the BS 'green' initiative.

Alternative energy ideas are cool - just like ethanol - but they have to be done correctly, by innovation and proper market forces driving such technology. Not quotas, not subsidies, not regulation, not taxation.

I don't want to go back in forth on political stuff...This is not the purpose of this forum.

I will leave it at this...

"We" have lost our way and if things don't get back on course coming generations will not be better off.
