Next week we'll be starting a book club! - EKolb13
I like to read. For those interested in the whole corn/grass fed/wild hog hunting etc. let me recommend a book for our club. It's called The Omnivore's Dilemma, by Michael Pollan. Read it and you'll never look at a Big Mac or any other food the same way again. |

It sounds like a modern version of Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle." At least that's what I imagine. I think I'll check that out while I'm vacationing next week.
I like to read myself. I haven't had free time to read what I would like. I'm usually stuck reading for classes and such. |

What a suprise - I just got back from a couple days in Nashville, and NO NEWS.
BTW, Nashville is a great town, great music, Sunday night on Broadway hitting the bars was great. |

At this point if you don't think the earth is getting warmer by factors directly relating to man, then you are just being stubborn. |

Looks like the Wings are jumping on the prospect bandwagon also. Here comes Martin Frk. |

If there is any bright side to this offseason its that the wings offseason has been pretty bad also. Not only did they fail to add but they lost.
Other then Tootoo what do we think about them signing him? |

Is Holland pumping up his tires just like Brandon Saad? All I've seen is him signing an entry level deal. |

KW's street cred has been somewhat restored with the pick ups of Youk, Myers and now Liriano....wish we could dump Floyd. I'd rather have a root canal than watch that walk machine pitch.
Not sold on the rookie closer either. He's an adventure every time he enters the game. Rios and Dunn with monster come back year's....
The Chicago White Sox will have to be dealt with....great year so far. - philco28
I hear you regarding Floyd if he doesn't walk at least 6 guys in the first 4 innings he's not getting it right...was hoping they could package him for a pitcher.
The pickups were good - Youk has been great, Myers will be the closer...Liriano we'll see tonight...but when you start looking at the Angels pitching now that they've added Greinke well...yikes.
Dunn's got 31 homers I think he's doing ok - the problem is the starting pitching might just start throwing rods here especially w/ Sale who isn't going to pitch for another 5-6 days now. And Danks may be done for the year. Quintana - rookie so another ? No question the kid's been great.
The Cubs didn't get much for Dempster two A ball prospects...too bad Kenny couldn't swing that.

That and production quotas on the sugar industry.
I'm in a huff about burning potential cattle feed for fuel when said burning for fuel is so inefficient and ineffective. Again, only from the pure scientific perspective. Ethanol production - from the way that's being done today - needs a LOT of refinement (no pun) in the process to make it cost effective. It takes $1.35 of resources to produce $1.00 of ethanol from corn. Nice P&L, eh? - blackhawk24
To go really out on a limb i think fossel fuel is a misnomer in that petroleum is a natural byproduc, of what the earth produces at its core and is therefor a replenishable fuel.
Montana is proving what the USA could be if the government stayed out of regulating our natural resources.
they have 4 percent unemployment and their production capacity for petroleum continues to be raised.

We have them both up here. Every year in the early spring Black bears hop a six foot fence and raid my bird feeders. They've been spotted in swimming pools all over the city and often raid the dumpsters. We also have a problem with cougars and coyotes becoming habituated to man and his trash and they are no longer afraid of man. Just last week someone in town was having a backyard BBQ and there was a cougar sitting on the hillside just outside the yard watching the proceedings. Coyotes have been aggressive lately too with some reported attacks. Grizzlies are more in the remote regions and not a problem in our city. - djd
Interesting...Coyotes more and more common around here.
I think the local Counties look the other way for the most part because they keep the Canadian geese population down. As it the geese are a real issue in the suburbs. The Coyotes eat their eggs and it wasn't for them, besides cars there isn't anything to limit the population. |

I keep an eye out, or should I say my dogs keep an eye out for me, every time we go for a hike. Bears and coyotes.
Tell me about the geese. You can't go in any park in town here without tiptoeing around all of their mess. Nasty stuff. |

Since I believe that man-made (including your SUV, and my car) global warming is an issue, consider this from a self righteous know-it-all who only wants to control your behavior:
Your argument based entirely on denigrating your opponent, without any logic or facts to back it up, will convince no one about your beliefs or your ability to understand the issue.
The only whack religion is that practiced by the owners of Chic Fil A, In And Out burgers, and any other organization run by "self righteous know it all's whose ultimate goal is regulating (my) behavior". - StLBravesFan
Chic Fil A are really crazy since they want to define marriage as between a man and a women and dont discriminate against anyone and their beliefs. You are free to have your beliefs without being disrespected

Maybe: haven't been able to find out yet if they have Jewish franchisees - and if the do, whether or not they would let them close on Saturday and open on Sunday. |

Global warming is where we draw the line. While it is always fun to exhibit hubris and assume that after all the years the earth has spinned, that right now...exactly right now is where we should define some sort of homeostasis, where we have identified the optimum temperature, and we are able to identify and manipulate cause and effect to achieve perfect environmental outcome? That asinine assumption is what you sign up for and claim, when you hold up the global warming banner.
The fact is this...3 things occur on earth growth, change and decay. Everything is evolving along this spectrum. The one constant is change. The environment is always changing. Our weather men are surprised everyday when a rain storm pops up from nowhere, or they can not figure out where clouds will form, but they can say with certainty that driving my SUV will cause catastrophic damage. Global warming is a whack religion subscribed to by self righteous know it all's whose ultimate goal is regulating your behavior. - TrueGrit

Sweet, you get 'em in the summer and I get 'em in the winter.
They start heading north with the start of the playoffs.
Edit: I'm headed back to Blair lake looking for Huckleberries in a couple of weeks, I will be on the lookout for our bear friends... |
