Well then Yandle and Bogosian are untouchables also.

Am I missing something on Bogosian?? 2 years ago this guy was being called a bust and expendable. Now all of a sudden he's a stud 1st pairing dman?

Also NYR got Nash for practically nothing. Schenn and Couts will NOT be traded for anyone.
- FLYERSROCK!

Nash gave Columbus a limited number of teams to deal with. Lowering the trade value. I think Columbus made a bad deal, but I would not say they got nothing in return.

How can you expect to get other teams top young players in a trade, and not be willing to give up your top young players? Especially with teams that are building towards the future.

How can a player be a bust at 20 years old and a rookie?

He was on the trading block 2 years ago for lack of progress with Atl. He wasnt a rookie also. But am I missing something? Isn't he a 2nd line dman on Win?

These are more in line with what their current team's actual demands would be:

Yandle: B. Schenn + Couturier + more
Bogosian: B. Schenn plus another asset

Who says he was on the trading block? I'll ask again, how can a 20 year old player be considered a bust, and team looking to deal him for a lack of progress? Is there any logic at all to that?

Bogosian would cost B. Schenn Bill? I thought Winnipeg was unhappy with his lack of progress so far? I totally took the wrong look at Bogosian haha
- FLYERSROCK!

In my blog, I said he's had plenty of early career ups and downs. But at the same age, Weber had only been a pro for one season. Bogosian is still inconsistent and played only 65 games last year, but it would still cost a major asset (such as B. Schenn) going the other way -- just as it took JVR to get Schenn.

But here's the thing: If Bogosian has a breakout year, he goes into the 'untouchable' realm of a franchise D-man. Then again, if he has another injury or takes a lateral step this season, then suddenly he's trade bait entering his RFA status.

That's why he's the type of D-man the Flyers should be monitoring. Trading for Yandle, conversely, would be so expensive as to be prohibitive.

You may have heard rumors. But he wasn't on the trading block. A team doesn't put a player of his talent and potential on the trading block due to a lack of play, at 20 years old.

Even if he was, when the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg, they cleaned house. New GM, new coach, new staff. Very few holdovers. Different opinions on the players.

Anybody else get the feeling Homer may be trying to not only get Ryan, but Sbisa also? With the way the available d-man free agent market is shaping up for next year, I think as Bill mentioned it might be more prudent to try and trade for a future stud d-man. Obviously, the organization knows a lot about Sbisa. The Ducks have a decent amount of young promising d-man in the organization also. I just can't see dealing Mez without a d-man coming back.

Just be prepared to give up B Schenn or Couturier. Along with others.

NYR got Nash for practically nothing because he limited who Howson could talk to. It wasn't a true competition. And Howson, being possibly the worst GM later, didn't even bother to wait until the Flyer were again on the market after Nashville matched (which was surely a possibility as he was weighing the offers he had).

the flyers could of offered more, esp with jvr (when they had him), read, mab or evengusty.. maybe even read.. a combo of players would of been thrown together

It really seems Homer is willing to go to a point and then stop in talks for any player. The top 9 forward he seems to be dangling is Read, the established defenseman has been Meszaros and the prospect types seem to be MAB, Gus or similar.

He's said he doesn't want to subtract from the roster, and hasn't. He didn't jump to land Weber. Hasn't yet met the price on Ryan. Didn't pull the trigger on Nash.

I think he'd be slotted ahead of Gervais, but he's not going to replace Meszaros or whichever other defenseman would be dealt.

At this point, I can't see how Homer is dangling Mez unless he is getting a d-man back in return. Am I missing something?

Of course, you know OB18 probably has a Sbisa jersey he'd love to be relevant again.

He could trade Meszaros-say in a trade for Ryan-and go out and sign Carlo Coliacovo as a free agent, and have the net result be about the same.

Coliacovo had a nice solid year last year, and has managed to stay mostly healthy, at least for him.
