The question is...can you win a cup THIS YEAR with this roster?

Because if you sign Doan, then you'll likely have to pass on Hartnell OR trade one of Schenn/Couts.

Screw Doan at 4 yrs/7.5 mil or anywhere near that. What a joke. He was on their 3rd line in the playoffs.

Doan 2 yrs 11M. Take it or leave it. I'm guessing he leaves it. Bye Doan.

I don't think they would, but it would be interesting to see what the cost would be for the Flyers.
- ob18

do you think he'll be better than Bourdon? Numbers are kinda identical now.

lots of salaries that bump up though...maybe not as much room as you think. They are not going to trade Lee to Texas for that 3B and its a damn shame. Should have never signed Lee.
- Just5

Using hindsight is always an easy exercise. Odds are you couldn't find a 5 Phils fans who objected to that move when it was made.

Aside from Pence (and Hamels of course), whose salary will be bumped up?

I heard that he's in the lead to be paired up with Weber this season. Doubtful he's traded, especially for the money he's making.

Even tho they matched I really hate to say this, but I am happy for them. I don't think it will but I hope that works out for them. Really like how they build with defensemen and goaltending.

Indeed. And perhaps if he'd had any run support in the first 12 games he wouldn't have started pressing and gotten out of whack.

I dont think Lee was a bad signing. The problem is he's having a bad year. The Phillies would be wise to keep him around. I much rather move position players and build with pitching including that bullpen which is terrible.

He's had bad luck this year for sure. Would you consider dumping Lincecum if you were SF?

I wouldn't, and he has had a few good starts in succession, though his velocity is noticeably down this season.

Lincecum is having a really tough year. I'm not sure when his contract is up but I would consider offers and then make the decision from there.

Wow Doan reportedly wants 7.5 million a season for 4 years if he leaves the Coyotes. TSN is reporting this. That is crazy! Who does he think he is?

I guess this weekend will determine the Phillies as seller's? They still think they have a chance?

I think they're done, but winning this way the last few games sure has been fun.

Looking at it now Lee bumps 3.5, Papelbon 2, Rollins 2, Kendrick 1.5, Ruiz 1.5

I'd keep Pence, trade Lee. Unless they think Halladay has issues

what's the deal with the Preds junior Weber, Roman Jossi? Any chance they make a trade with him involved? Flyers have interest, yay or nay?
- JoeRussomanno

Poile talked about him replacing Suter as Weber's partner. So I doubt that they're looking to move him.

Stay the course.

After this year they lose Blanton's 10.5 mil, Polanco's 6.25 mil, Victorino's 9.5 mil.

That should give them enough room to fill in some needed holes and keep the pitching intact.

The problem is that I don't care how good your pitiching is, you still need the bats. They are too heavy on the starting pitching side. They need to balance out the team. Strengthen the bullpen, and get another big bat. I start by trading Lee in the Off Season.

They didn't want to go over 2 years in a row. I think they'll go over it next year, but stay under the increased luxury tax floor in 2014.

for the record Blanton's AAV is $8 million, Polanco I believe was around $5.5. Vic like $7.7. Look for them to trade Vic, Pierre and maybe Blanton for inexpensive proven relief help with at least 3 years of team control. They buyout Polanco and possibly resign him to an incentive laiden contract. Sign Bourne to play CF and leadoff. Keep Wigs, Nix and Mayberry and put Brown in LF. Kratz becomes the back up catcher. Then they need a cheap 5th starter. bring back Blanton?

They don't necessarily need a big bat IMO. They need a consistant bat like Bourne who could leadoff. They need to fix the pen big time.
