ennis isnt really a "true center" He sucks at faceoffs. Hes just a puck possesson player that has more room to move around and dipsy duddle through the netrual zone.

Girgensons (sabres 1st round pick) - hes a true center and at the VERY LEAST will be in the AHL. But no joke 1st round picks even at 14 have been known to make NHL rosters. So who knows what happens if he does well in camp. He is probly 1 year away from the NHL though.

Justin Kea- Paul Gaustad Junior

Grigorenko- no explination needed

- buffalofan1027

I like Ennis at center
It actually plays more to his strengths IMO...
Carrying the puck up ice & playmaking
Lots of guys sucked at faceoffs when they first came into the league (Crosby is one good example) and grew to be good at them
Ennis might not,
But that's where having a guy like Ott comes in handy
Not that I wanna mess with the chemistry n pull Foligno off that line...
But if Ennis' faceoffs do become an issue,
Ott plays a similar style of Foligno & should slot in nicely

I do think faceoffs are VERY important,
But they are only ONE part of being a good center

Maybe I hope so.
He is gonna play alot more and have a ton more def. responsibilities. Not worried about draws. More worried at the lack of depth at position and the roles are centers are stuck with. Both coho and Ennis are gonna play against more #1 lines

To me its not that he is untouchable. The position is.
D. Roy I hate to say this was our only real center.
Ennis has 25 at position got on a hot streak. Dont know if he can play it for 80
Coho did not look good last year. Played third line wing center came here and struggled. Who is the third line center Leino Matt Ellis Mccormick.
We cant trade a center we dont have any to trade.
My opinionion GRigs is a year away . May see Gergs in January.
Darcy has to find a nhl center.

I agree. I have been trying to look around at teams that may be rebuilding or have centers on their minor-league team that they need clear space for. I have a feeling the Sabres aren't done. I also have a feeling we aren't getting a big name player, but someone who is currently under the radar that could be a surprise. Look at Briere....even Drury. I'm pretty sure Briere was waived by Phoenix before we traded for him and we still wish he was on our team. Drury was floundering out in Calgary and he re discovered his game with us. Neither of them looked like blockbuster acquisitions at the time, but they turned out great for the sabres.....well, you know, while it lasted. They were both risks that could have completely crashed and burned their careers in Buffalo, but ended up having some of their best years here. i expect an acquisition or 2 like that. Someone we might scratch out head at, but then be thankful for halfway in to the season. We'll see I guess. That's my hope. Either way, go sabres!

Darcy had to match offer sheet, after the Drury/Briere debacle! Again, how does this guy keep his job?
- Irish 14

Darcy didn't have to do anything. I know the arguments for both sides. I was on the let him go side. Especially since they had no real intention of keeping Campbell either. Should've gone into full blown rebuild mode. He couldn't even dismantle a team properly (I'm half joking)

Oh well.

I'm not pissed off just not happy with the direction of this team, I don't come here to vent.
- SABRES 89

I understand being upset at the lack of top end talent in the way of free agency & trades that Darcy has brought in lately...

But check out Brian Huddle's blog about our top10 prospects

He's done a fantastic job in the Drafts since the lockout...
And getting Hodgson was an absolute steal
I know u aren't sold yet,
But let's see how he does this season...

My prediction...
25-45-70pts
And that 25 goals will be more than either Stastny or Getzlaf gets

U probably agree with little, if any, of this...
But we'll talk next offseason

Hopefully I'm right for all of our sakes!

I agree that I think Hodgson will pan out but, I am a little confused...

So, you don't think either Getzlaf or Stastny will score a single goal this season?

Edit: nevermind. I totally misread that

My CoHo prediction will be more in the range of 20-40-60

Good point about the defensive responsibilities
That's always tough for young centers
That was Adam's downfall last year

doan't worry we are stacked at center

- SabresFaninIndiana

I am getting sick of people saying Leino and Ott are centers, why don't you ask them, they both say they are wingers. Scott??? as a reason we are stacked at center? Gerbe never has played for ruff as a center only in AHL and before.

More like we are stacked with wingers we make play center.

Our top 4 centers will probably be:
Hodgson
Ennis
Girgensons
McCormick
I doubt that Grigorenko makes the squad this year. I hope I am wrong.

As for Ennis:
he will not sign longer than 2 years at a cap hit of less than 4. so since I think that Darcy has the argument that he fits in with players making 2.5 to 3 M$/yr. So I think we will see something like 2 years at a total of 5.5 to 6 M. probably (cap hit 2.75 to 3)

Oh, and for all you tards saying 4 years and 5, the sabres would be stupid to sign him longer than 3 because he would come out of the contract a UFA when he hits 26 years old and we could lose his rights for nothing. Only if we were to sign him for a 6 year deal or longer and he would not sign for that long at 3M/year.

I think if we took a poll on here, most would vote for Regier and Ruff off the island.

Gotta wonder if Girgensons can make the team and if he's a good fit on the 3rd line. Do we give him lots on minutes in Rochester? or does he get limited ice time on the 3rd? if he doesn't make the team, then we're missing a Center. Where does Luke Adam fit in at this point? I agree with your evaluation of too many wingers playing center. I'm kind of hoping we package up some D, may be Adam and a winger, pick, prospect, whatever for someone who can play center now....even if it's a legit 3rd liner and we play CoHo and Ennis as our 1/2.....Arnott at 3? We certainly still wouldn't be strong at center.

I say keep both G's the whole year. what do we have to lose??? at this point there more of an asset than liability

he got them over the cap floor...from $50m to $57m

he'll bring offense...more offense than having two bottom-six players at $3.5m each

Did ryan nugent-hopkins play a game before he started on the 1st line in EDM? Taylor Hall?

both of which are players that Grigorenko and Girgensons could be even better than (potentially)

At this point I have to think Adam is going to stay a winger from here on out. We need another center because if zem doesn't cut it we are screwed and I question him making it
