I'd rather he didnt.

I don't know. The two injuries have very different recoveries. Last yr Kesler couldn't skate in the off season. IMO if a player can't skate its pretty hard to be even close to ready. Say what you will about Kesler, but he is pretty competitive. He knows he wasn,t very good last yr. He has acknowledged as much. He'll come to play.

**SHANE DOAN UPDATE** #Canucks source: "As of right now, I'll go as far as saying that if he's not a coyote, he'll become a Canuck." #DOAN

Have no idea who this guy is or if hes even remotely credible.

Interesting nonetheless.

Total BS. Why would Doan go on all those team tours back east if his backup plan was Vancouver the whole time. Do Eastern Conference teams have better sandwiches or something?

Agreed, the injuries aren't really comparable - but you'd just hope they have the confidence in the team to survive 2 months without him. Plus it gives them a shot at trying out players - The start of the season is when every other team is tinkering too, it can't hurt too much to try Schroeder at 2LC.

Doan strikes me as a pretty polite kind of guy, if he was legitimately interested in their offer and wanted to give them the opportunity to wow him, then he made the trip. Not saying the tweet is reliable or anything, only that he probably visited some teams out of respect for the time and effort they put into trying to convince him to come and play there.

You could very well be correct, but maybe Down wanted to make sure that he was making the right decision. You meet a team and find out its a better fit then you believed it would be.

Well, he was already out east for the CBA talks, so it makes sense to visit those cities while he's there.

Wasn't there a statement made that he would likely visit Van in the very near future. Pretty sure someone (maybe Vantel) posted some info about it.

Cloutier got married a few weeks back. What are the chances it was to Hemsky? Not even a shadow of the player he was about 3 yrs ago.

Agree that he's a stand up guy and will talk to each team to find out how compatible they are.
As much as I think Doan will help, I think what Vancouver really needs is a playmaker for the second line. Booth, Kessler, and to a lesser extent Jensen and Kassian are primarily shooters. (Raymond Higgins and Hansen are muckers.)

Can't remember where I read it but apparently Doan, was a die hard has fan growing up. I imagine he's considering them. Also Booth will be on the 3rd line if Schroader comes in as advertised.

Booth was on pace for 27 goals.....and if he didn't play for florida in his first 6 games he would have hit 30.

Not trying to insult you or anything - but isn't the whole "he was a huge fan of the team as a kid" argument owned by Leaf fans?

I'm hoping that a whole training camp and healthy off season means an improved Booth.

And that will be excellent production from the 3rd line. Higgins gets 15.

I have no doubts Booth will be far better this yr. I do have doubts about him and Kesler playing together. I actually didn't mind Booth with the twins in the playoffs, but doubt he could be better the burrows up there.

Leafs fans are what they are. But there isn't close to as many leaf fans as their used to be. You watch a leaf game. Where they are playing at home against a decent team. Pitts, van, Philly(excluding orig 6) the building is had full of the a posing team fans. Never used to be like that. Same can be said for 10-15 yrs ago the Pacific Colisium used to be full of leaf fans, again not anymore.

So you expect Schroeder to play wing? Because you know AV will never move Kesler to the wing when he returns.

It's more likely that if Schroeder plays well enough to stick, he's moved to 3rd line centre. He was not good when moved to the wing with the Moose/Wolves.

Booth wouldn't fit on the 3rd line. AV likes to use his 3rd line as a defensive group. Booth isn't that great defensivelyā€”Schroeder is.
