I hear what you are saying but Arnott is still capable of scoring near 20 goals where as Pahlsson has never been that kind of player. Arnott will pound someone's head in from time to time and Arnotts cap hit will not be much higher than Schroeder's (you were concerned about the hit)... under 2 mil... A great depth move down the middle that should still provide Schroeder with a top six shot.
- boonerbuck

If Arnott doesn't have a reasonable offer before the start of training camp I bet Gillis does one of his Training Camp offers (a "PTO"??). Like with Owen Nolan and Peter Schaefer.

I just hope that Kessler doesn't rush back and that the kids (Especially Jensen and Kassian) get a decent shot after training camp. And by decent shot, I don't mean 4th line duty. You often see a young player excel in the preseason and then get sent down to the minors the day before game 1.

I agree with you somewhat here. I'm not saying it as a team leader role, thats earned over time. I hate when teams give the new High paid player the C. But as a on ice leader while he plays. Like you said, its the best he can do. but its whats sorely missing on the canucks. That's something that is a sore spot on the team, but a strong veteran player that will shut someone up with a big hit, or simply by overworking the other team rather then yapping is starting to be lost on the canucks.

And it starts with the coach. He yaps as big as a game as the players on the ice, so I do think he is the one driving them in that direction as well (I'm not an AV fan at all, wish MacT took over)

No he won't make them a shoe in. But he gives them an element that they hadn't had in the last few tries, and that small tweak might be all it takes.

And someone brought up kesler. I do think Doan on keslers line would hopefully let Kesler concentrate on playing and not doing what he did last year (yes he was hurt, but still I'm sure his injury was aggravated by the huge chip on his shoulder)

- numbear

Good post. I will say that I honestly hardly ever noticed Doan in the post-season until this year (even then, it's hard for me to watch PHX). Aside for the big hits I still consider the goal-scoring to be the biggest deficit. If he joins the Canucks and can score timely goals in the playoffs then he'll be my new hero.

If anyone is wondering why Oilers fans are so mad at me today it's because I made a comment that Semin would score 40 and Hemsky would be injuried by game 20.

For some reason I see him in Detroit

Semin/Datsyuk/Kostitsyn may be a good line.

Arnott is slowing down. He has some value as a 3LC, but really needs protected minutes. He can still contribute if given some PP time as a net front presence. He's only been in like 3 fights total since the lockout, so I'm not sure where the idea of him pounding in heads comes from though... I mean, I guess if a team find a fighter as prolific as say Crosby or Ovechkin, Arnott works.

Some interesting points. Personally, I'd prefer to give Jordan Schroeder a real shot to make the team (playing 2nd line C until Kesler returns, when he'll move to 3rd line C) rather than getting a guy like Arnott who is on his last legs.

Gillis told Sekeres the other Day Kesler is ahead of schedule and may be ready for the start of the season.

Have no idea who this guy is or if hes even remotely credible.

Interesting nonetheless.

Raymond will be built into a tradeable asset much like Cody and move at the deadline.

Booth will be given a long, long look at top 6 time before being demoted to the third line.

- IanEsplen

I think Ballard and Raymond will be showcased to let other teams know they are assets. Get some trade value building.

Sorry, but IMO, but you're coming off as really biased. You're enforcing to the letter of the law on fans of other teams who comment against your team, while acknowledging that the rules are different for fans of your team doing the same elsewhere. If, as a volunteer, you only have so much time to spend keeping people in line, seems like you should either hold people to the same standards as their held everywhere else on the site, or hold people to your standards somewhere where you are able to do so without such an obvious (though likely unintentional) bias, IE not in a Canuck's thread.

You call it stirring up poop, I call it making an honest prediction on how the season will play out for the players that were talked about in the blog. I have no problem with people who disagree with my point of view as long as they're polite about it.

And the only time I've ask Micah to ban anyone is when they go way over the line and are not on topic at all. I have no problem with people who make the odd anti Canucks comment in good fun. But, if you come in the thread over and over with rude comments that have nothing to do with the blog and you will get a time out.

Have fun, keep on topic, and you won't have a problem.

I think the thing is, if we're in another team's blog, we get banned instantly even if our comments aren't truly ban-worthy (see Leafs mods). Yet here we have plenty of Leafs and Oilers trolls getting warnings before being banned. This is a Canucks thread, if other teams are willing to report every comment by us on their threads and have us banned, ban-worthy or not, then why should we put up with it on our own threads?
