No QO likely means they didn't want to give him a raise. personally I would have because I like the way he plays and he seems like a good character guy.

Hopefully Vancouver is working on getting a deal done at the same rate as last year.

that sounds like one heck of a league in TO

- IanEsplen

Yeah its a solid league. Its called the Adult Safe Hockey League, ASHL for short. Its actually a national corporated league. You guys have it at an arena in North Vancouver, Richmond,Burnaby,Langley and Armstrong.

Along with Edmonton,Winnipeg,Regina,Saskatoon and the 6 in the Greater Toronto area. The winner of each region flies down to San Jose for a tournament. But the team only gets a 1 or 2 thousand dollar bursery, then You have to pay your own way.

So, of the players mentioned today

Kristian Huselius
Shane Doan
Andrei Kostitsyn
Carlo Colaiacovo
Jason Arnott
Jamie Arniel
Ryan O'Marra
Mike Duco
Simon Danis-Pepin

Any thoughts on them Canucks fans? Wondering mainly what people think of Jamie Arniel, Ryan O'Marra, Mike Duco, and Simon Danis-Pepin

- IanEsplen

I think at this juncture we'd be scrapping the barrel by entertaining bringing any of those guys on (apart from Doan of course). If any of them filled a need Gillis would have made that move already. I would give Huselius a TO, but hockey is short on injury-recovery miracles. I seriously doubt he'll ever play a full season again, and the fact that he's still unsigned on July 26 indicates I'm not the only one.

Gillis has been harping on lately about how great everyone is doing in the farm. If that's the case let's give them a real shot. Schroeder at center, not Arnott. Connaughton on D, not Colaiacovo.

Semin signs in Carolina for 1 yr @7m. I like what the Canes are quietly doing over there.

Jokinen-Staal-Semin
Ruutu-Skinner-Semin

Not a bad top 6 IMO.

- AlexF

What about Jorden Staal? Is he sentenced to the 3rd line again?

Wait, there's two Semins...must be a typo?

PLUS with the 1st rounder, top prospect and top 6 forward that they'll AT LEAST get for Luongo, they'll be set for many o' years.

No one mentions how the coach juggled the hell out of our healthy D going into the playoffs and starts with useless players like Raymond on the Sedin line. It seemed most people accepted that AV was going to be let go for his backwards preperation for the playoffs. AV even admitted he prepared with the assumption that Danny would be back which actually made him completely unprepared.

You cant meh it offas injuries and a hot GT. Gillis made his blunders as well at the TDL. He moved the gear that worked the second PP unit losing a offensive center even tho they knew Kesler was injured. Gillis also didnt successfully address losing Ehrhoff's offense or Torres and Glass' grit. This was not a case of the same team who made the final the year before simply being injured. The GM and Coach should carry much of the blame.

This time it was Schneider in net and the team couldnt score. This team is running out of scapegoats.

At the moment this team looks no better than last seasosns Oct with a repeat of the same absense of Kesler to start. Garrison may prove to be a upgrade on Salo but thats is no guarantee and not what I'd expect to be *impact*.

- boonerbuck

I'm willing to cut the team some slack given their injuries and the dominance their opponent went on to display throughout the rest of the playoffs.

I could blame AV for how the lines rolled or blame Gillis for not making our team better, but I really don't have the whole story behind the scenes, so it feels pretty fruitless to rage at them. We lost 3 games by 1 goal and were in all of them. LA beat us. Our players couldn't score on Quick. I think we still have a team that can compete for a Cup if they are healthy when the playoffs come around.

Put it this way: If Brown was playing injured and Kopitar wasn't in the lineup, do you think we would has lost the first 3 games?

We need to blame someone. Thats the way it is.
I could blame Chouinard or Bulis but i truly believe that is AV's fault.

I agree with this and I've never really grilled management in my own mind for the losses, but there is one point that seems to be more of a trend rather than a one off: scoring. 2 playoff series in a row where we couldn't score on Thomas, then on Quick. There will always be a Thomas or Quick at some point in the playoffs. We need an upgrade in the scoring department because what we have has its limits.

If I follow the GM and coaches logic which was that a forward like Pahlsson is a much better fit over a player like Hodgson on the 3rd, then I don't see how Schroeder is a better fit than Arnott on the 3rd. I'm all for giving Schroeder a try on the 2nd line while Kesler is out and if he works out well, try and keep him on the 2nd line when Kes returns. More AHL will only help Schroeder's D game anyways. I still believe this team needs size and leadership added with or without Doan.

So what if Schroeder doesnt look like he's ready or a fit in Oct and Gillis never added another C? People would be poopting bricks around here demanding a desperate trade.

Hank, Ebbett or Higgins, Lappy, Malholtra is our 1 through 4? Why wouldnt Kesler rush back to save his team AGAIN? What happens if we have an additional injury down the middle early? This team needs to sign a center plain and simple. Schroeder will get his shot regardless.
