PLUS with the 1st rounder, top prospect and top 6 forward that they'll AT LEAST get for Luongo, they'll be set for many o' years.

You already had Mike Duco. He was a restriced free agent and Gillis didn't give him a qualifying offer.

He comes out to play sometimes in my men's league in Scarborough (Eastern suburb in Toronto) in A division on Tuesday nights along with Chris Stewart. Wayne Simmonds has came out before too, but not this year. I'm in the next division below them or else I would of played against him.

They're team is ridiculous, they haven't lost one game. I actually played rep with their leading scorer as well. Apparently he's a snipeshow now

- t_leafs21

No QO likely means they didn't want to give him a raise. personally I would have because I like the way he plays and he seems like a good character guy.

Hopefully Vancouver is working on getting a deal done at the same rate as last year.

that sounds like one heck of a league in TO

Dude, what little credibility you might have had is gone. You're clearly trolling. This is your final warning.

Edm improved, but they're still a few years from challenging for the NW. Cal, Col, and Min didn't improve enough either. Canucks are a lock for a top 3 finish in the WC.

You've done nothing but bash the Canucks since you've joined. Why don't you try some polite conversation, and you might get some in return.

- Fosco

Calgary didn't improve but how do you say Colorado and Minny didn't improve?

Minny added the 2 biggest FA of the summer to an already pretty good core and have great prospects coming through the system.

Colorado has a healthy line up again and added PA Parenteau. Of course they are better.

And you guys expect civil conversation with Nuck fans (refs no less) making comments like this?

The difference being that everyone here knows me and knows I'm clearly joking.

Considering that I've been modding this board longer than the home-grown mod that typically functions here...pretty sure it's taken quite likely.

But a user like you that they may not be familiar with, should probably avoid similar posts.

I would be very surprised if Vancouver didn't win their division whether the rest of the NW improved or not.

Personally, I think Arnott would be a great addition to the Canucks who are only a solid 3rd line center and top 6 winger from being a President trophy contenders again.

I think it would make sense to sign Arnott and then trade Luongo for picks. When the trade deadline comes you will have more capspace (because of injuries and unused cap space compiling) and can parlay those picks and any other assets into a top 6 forward.

Vancouver isn't contending for the cup in October; they need to have the best team on the ice in mid June.

Hahaha. Your last sentence is just DYING for a comeback...but I'll refrain.

Fact is that most of us are making ridiculous statements to refute other fans ridiculous statements and it just continues.

You're in a Canucks thread making comments with the intent to inflame or disrupt. That's trolling and you have now been warned twice. Go read the CoC and you'll see how things work. If you are here to be disruptive, you're not welcome.

I agree, just that down the stretch when the Canucks were something stupid like 11-3-2 or whatever, it was goaltending that kept them in every game, we barely scored any goals, and while there were plenty of "shut up, the sky isn't falling" posters here, there were many who recognized this problem. They weren't as good as their record indicated, in this case, there was a little more luck, and a little less good...
- 1970vintage

Meh, the Kings got hot. The Canucks had no Daniel for a few games, Kesler was injured and playing like a chump. We lost some close games to a team that put together one of the most dominant runs of all time. They weren't up to it when it came to crunch time, but it's not like they couldn't have won if they'd been in better shape.

Well if they're not "on the right track" after being in position to draft a franchise player 1st overall in each of the last 3 offseasons, then they never will be. There should be a re-build rule... If you get a 1st overall pick, then your OWN 1st rounder can be no higher than 5th the following season.

Some interesting points. Personally, I'd prefer to give Jordan Schroeder a real shot to make the team (playing 2nd line C until Kesler returns, when he'll move to 3rd line C) rather than getting a guy like Arnott who is on his last legs.

I like it. Sometimes I do get the impression that Tambellini won't make certain moves with the knowledge that, if what they rolled out doesn't work, no matter they'll get a lottery pick anyway.

I'm not really sure what you are saying here? The Canucks were as good as their record indicated and they got beat by a hot team, or they weren't as good as their record indicated and got beat by a hot team?

Clearly losing D. Sedin, Kesler's injury etc. hurt the team, but them's the breaks. What I'm saying is that they skidded into the playoffs and the PT win was more luck then not...

Good point. I would take the following approach. Schroeder in the 2 hole until Kesler returns then pushed to the right wing. If the Canucks feel they can upgrade at the TD Schroeder is still waiver exempt and can be sent down. I feel the Canucks do need a big strong centre on the third line. Shutting down the opposition is such an acquired skill and takes time to develop...that's how I envision that position.

2 Questions for you
What do you think is going to happen with Raymond?

Should Booth be a top 6 guy? Do you think he will improve upon last season?

I think the Canucks were as good as their record indicated, but probably not the team that entered the playoffs without 2 of it's 3 best forwards. Also the Kings were clearly better than their record indicated.

If the Canucks had meet the Kings in round 2 with Daniel back and the team in playoff mode, it may have been different. As it is, the Kings steamrolled us on the way to steamrolling everyone else. I think the Canucks would have beaten most other teams Round 1.

Your right, kings got hot. Lets not forget they were a healthy team and out of the playoffs till the end of the season. Carter is good but he isn't good enough to make a mediocre team the next dynasty.

Well for sure you can count the Preds in the NO column. Poile was asked yesterday during a radio interview about bringing him back and the answer was a quick, curt NO! He didnt directly say it but his comments were definitely that AK46 is NOT a team player. It was his opinion that AK46 being with PReds last season was even determential to little brother SK74.

RE Arnott, buyer beware, his melon is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyy soft. you can count on him missing several (at least 9 or more since 07-08) games each season due to being concussed. He is also definitely not the swiftest skater in the barn.

- im4preds

So he missed 10 games last season and 9 the season before that, big deal. Thats not at all far from average. He'll still get 15g/15a from the 3rd. He doesnt play as physical as he used to but he'll stick up for his line mates in a hurry and is still a handfull to play against and still carries some intimidation factor. He's been very affordable his last two contracts. He's a fit in many ways but his footspeed will have AV sinking him down the depth chart faster than you can say Abruti.

Raymond will be built into a tradeable asset much like Cody and move at the deadline.

Booth will be given a long, long look at top 6 time before being demoted to the third line.
