so Giroux makes $3.75M/year and Voracek makes $4.25M/year.

Hartnell only makes $4M/year.

without looking it up, I think that makes Voracek the second highest paid forward on the team.

Yeah but Giroux signed his deal in 2010, when his deal is up after the 2013 season he'll be the highest paid forward on the team for sure.

If Giroux keeps producing and improving, he could be one of the highest paid forwards IN THE LEAGUE, never mind the Flyers.

Crazy isnt it? I dont fault the Flyers for making the deal. The money getting thrown around these days by everyone is crazy.

It all started with the Kovulchuck deal !!!

Really? I seem to remember the Hossa and Luongo deals before that deal. Thanks for playing.

If isles get any stability from an arena deal soon I can see them offer sheeting him crazy amount of money.

And give me one reason why he would sign to play there? People forget that the player needs to sign the contract indicating his desire to play for that team.

New building. So stability from that. hopefully Wang sold the team to the Brooklyn guys. Johnny T etc. Its a possibility but very unlikely, but we Isles fans have nothing so let us dream?

Seems like a reasonable deal compared to similar forwards. Just by natural progression as a 23 year old he should likely improve his point totals from 45-50 to 55-60 range, then you figure in him playing with Giroux and he's likely in the 65-70 range which would price him easily over 5 million

Giroux, B. Schenn, and Couturier all have expiring ELC's at the same time. That'll be an interesting year for the Flyers

Does it really matter with Holmgren? He'll sign anyone to long term deals at any stage of their career

They also have only 34million and change committed that year and roughly stand 35million under the current cap.

True, but they'll only have 8 players signed that year. You'll need a minimum of 12, most likely 16 players to sign.

5 of which are Simmonds, Giroux, Schenn, Couts, and Hartnell.

Yeah very true, I remember Giroux saying once he hates winning and always dreamed about playing hockey on a crappy island (insert fart noise). Flyers dealt richards and carter to allow him to become the franchise player, and anyone who follows hockey knows Synder isn't afraid to spend $

Considering all these guys have been untouchable for teams in trade talks, I bet they get deals well before free agency

Reminds of michalek abit. Big, good skater, dominant for stretches, but also quiet at times and unable to put up big numbers. ( still super young though)

He'll break out at some point

Does Hartnell get traded this year or does re-sign with the Flyers as it's a contract year for him.
I've read that he would like to stay in Phili.

That's ridiculous money for this guy. Just frickin' ridiculous. You guys can praise Holmgren all you want to but the fact of the matter is the Philadelphia front office is a train wreck. Their payroll situation is going to be a mess for years to come and they aren't going to have much to show for it. How's that Bryzgalov contract working out for them?
