Seriously, if Steve Tambellini is done making changes to the team this summer, I'm gonna start punching myself in the face.

That would probably be a good thing in the end. EDM is already a junior all star team playing in the NHL why not go all out. Totally agree with everything in this blog, especially the quote above.

I think it's a terrible idea for Edmonton to let their young players think it's ok to lose.

he goes to the corners and all his goals are going to the net hard... i don't mean an enforcer he's more a solid bottom 6 checker that know's his role and can play on the pk. Hopefully Eager will play with more of an edge under kruger and i also think hordi will be in for 50 games
- Killbot460

We can all hope with eager and hordi.

Jones is a "grinder" with some offensive upside.

This might be a stupid question, but as a non-Oilers fan, why is it that you don't forecast Hall and Yakupov playing alongside Nugent Hopkins? Considering they were all first line picks, that just seems like a logical combination. Is it something with their playing styles conflicting?

Also, I realize that Paajarvi has potential, but putting up only 8 points over half a season in the NHL last year, is he really first line worthy?

Maybe not gritty but he is definetly more physical than most of the team.

It's only what clouts said so don't take it with much value. Prv on the top line is definitely not a good idea. As for yaks hall and RNH. Eb's and RNH had tremendous chemistry last year so no need to break them up, not sure who will end up being with them but since yaks is a right winger hall would be the logical choice.

The fans are getting tired of the whole rebuild thing. This isn't Toronto. No more lottery picks. I'm fine when we hit that 2% chance and move up the 4 spots to 6th though.

Disagree on moving Belanger. He was a big help on our PK last year. As long as he understands that he's not getting any more PP time, then I'm fine with him. Also his FO % is quite good.

Also the problem with moving Hemsky now is that we won't get fair value for him. We are going to have to hold on to him until mid-season before we can move him.

Honestly...the only real move we dare make right now is for a proper top 4 D-man. If we can pull that off, even if it means over paying a bit, then that's when we pull the trigger. Anything else is a bit of waste. The problem is that we have a LOT of untouchables. But moving more players just to stack up on draft picks??? No thank you. It's time for this team to move forward!!

With the Oilers luck they will end up with McKinnon and still need help on defense... The west is pretty weak right now IMO.. Detroit lost Lidstrom and thats going to hurt them more than they realize, probably out of the playoffs hurt them. Minnisota got a lot better but is still lacking depth on the blue line.. Heatley is done, if he couldnt score with Thorton he wont score with Koivu. So they really have Koivu, Seto, Parise, Clutterbuck, Suter, and Backstrom with a bunch of rookies..

A full season of Hall, Eberle, RNH would give the oilers a 1st scoring line and a great one at that. Yaks gets 2nd teir Dmen with Gagner and hemsky and the Jones horcoff smyth line can rock shutdown duty..

They have the players now to play possession hockey so they should start to focus on it...

Oh man where do I start with this one?

First. I'm really glad you are not GM of the Oil. They are sticking to the plan and if you cant handle it then start cheering for the Lamezzzzz.

Do not trade Jones or Whitney. I said 3 years ago they should trade Hemsky. No one listened and everyone said he was awesome and the Oil needed to keep him. MPS is not a first line guy. Never will be. I dont get why you ALWAYS have Hall on line 2. He and Ebs are dynamite together. Hall-RNH-Ebs will be one of the top 3 lines in the nhl over the next few years. MPS might develop into a line 2 LW. Jones needs to be kept because he is versatile and always goes hard. He's a less talented Hall.

And the Oil have NEVER intentionally tanked a season. It just happened and for you to suggest they do it this year is ludacris.

A troll comment if I've ever seen one. I'll bite.

The Sedins are exiting their prime. Your team appears to be putting their faith in a backstop who has never played 40+ games, although I do think Corey is solid, I will wait until he is proven to direct praise. The Canucks D are overrated, without a clear number one.

Just my opinion of course, but if I were you I would try to exhibit a bit of class, as a team's fortunes can turn. I'm a Kings fan, so I know this to be fact.

He once ate nothing but lumber for 6 straight days, and because he's so much more dominant than everyone else, he grew a beard 10 feet long and then shaved it with his own fingernails because beards are for sissies.

I have no idea what Im doing.

These trades also move you over $7 million below the current cap floor. The mystery great young defenseman you want to get in the Hemsky deal might account for $1 million but still, you have to hope the new CBA lowers the cap that far or you'll be short. And what's your dislike for Erixon? By all accounts he should be a solid top-four.
