third line center for us with a little upside
last 3 years, 32, 37, 44 points
improved production each year and is good for a hit per game
plus he has some size
wild are thin on D after suter and gilbert
plus the wild are up against the cap - homiedclown
Sekera doesn't give them that much cap relief. If Brennan finds his way onto the Wild roster, it's a wash. I'm sick of updating the bottom 6. The only good an effective bottom 6 does is when it has a good enough top 6 to enhance, and right now they don't have a good enough top 6. Give me a better top 6, and then I'll start talking about trades like that. |

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Mike Harrington reports the Sabres remain interested in Doan and Anaheim Ducks right wing Bobby Ryan, but suggests the club has a “recruiting problem”, in that they’re not an attractive destination for players hoping to win the Stanley Cup.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s an uncomfortable truth about the Sabres. It’s a good hockey town, but not a destination for players who want to play for a Cup contender. They’ll have to build themselves into contention, and show a commitment toward maintaining that status, to become more attractive to top stars. As for the Predators, retaining Shea Weber might help in their efforts to woo Doan, but they could be in the same situation as the Sabres.

I'm sure this has already been pointed out, but it's ridiculous that you have to troll the Flyers commentors on this site to get hits on your blog. Write about your own team, there is nothing wrong with the Flyers' ability to pull free agents. Suter didn't want to come to the East, I'm sure Parise didn't want to play for Philly and Weber WANTED to come here.
Carle and Jagr were looking for bigger bucks, and neither of them were worth what they got paid. Your blogs are useless. |

Minnesota isn't a "destination" for players in this sense either. Parise grew up there, so he wanted to play there. Suter didn't grow up too far away in Wisconsin either, and decided to go there after conversations with Parise. Shane Doan seems to be giving Phoenix, also not a hockey "destination", every opportunity to get their ducks in a row, and I think he will stay there. Otherwise, he would have been signed by someone by now. We have no idea if Buffalo even thought of an offer sheet for Shea Weber (perhaps they tried to trade with Nashville, but not necessarily an offer sheet). The only one you can make this argument for really is Rick Nash with his list of teams. Bobby Ryan has no say in where he can go if he's traded, so he's irrelevant in this argument.
The Sabres have been successful in landing the likes of Ehrhoff, Regehr (getting him to waive his no trade clause), and even Ville Leino, though that signing looks like a tire-fire right now. When the Free Agent market is this thin, you're going to have a lot of players making decisions based on other factors. If you want to say that Buffalo has no sentimental value to these guys, then sure, argue away, but we already knew this. None of the FA crop grew up here, or lives here. |

Here once again...... why the hell would they pick the Sabres and stop saying the community. This team is far from the cup. |

Sekera and Brennan to the Wild for Kyle Brodziak - homiedclown
I like this. It works for both teams but doesn't give Minny any cap relief, especially if Brennan makes the team. I'd love Brodziak, a right handed shooting center. |

I don't disagree, but other than Rick Nash, and I guess Shea Weber, Cup Contention wasn't really a factor in any of these players' decisions. It's more about fit and quality of life. |

Minny is a very good hockey town but like Boston a hockey town for younger players not so much the nhl side. SO they signed a player who is from there and a guy that minny is the closest nhl city. I bet they dont sign another big name for a long long time. HOpefully they have their ducks in a row and the few prospects they have left can be nhl ready soon and play. They are a playoff team but wouldnt put them in a cup contender category |

Agree, but the only reason Boston is considered a young city is because of all of the schools downtown. Much more relevant to bringing FAs to Boston than Minn. |

pretty sure it factored in for Suter and Parise.
A) Minnesota was already an up-and-coming team without those two (the Wild are stacked with prospects)
B) Parise and Suter know that their presence will improve the team dramatically |

AMEN
There are 30 teams in the NHL....The Flyers can't get everyone....They are always aggressive, which as a fan is appreciated....I like reading other teams blogs just to see whats going on ...I don't think Im a Troll ...
And obviously Weber signed a contract so....not sure where you are going.
But I digress....I enjoy heading to Buffalo every year for a couple of games...Great arena....great beer and wings up the road....Area a little sketchy. |
