He's ready. Weber will be able to make up for his lack of size on that line. But he moves the puck just like Suter and has one helluva shot. I think that combo would be nuts. Keep Gill/Josi together cause they played great together, and pair up Klein and possibly Blum?
- Van~Damage

Preds were also mumbling something or other about possibly picking up another vet D-man before season starts.

I expect Josi to improve. He has a lot of skills but lacks the experience. I think we'll be alright on the Blue Line.

We need to go ahead and get Carlo Colaiacovo to pair with Klein and have Blum as the 7th...
- HardCorePredFan316

Easy for you to say! How about we just shorten his name to Cola. Or Coke.

Want to thank you spatso and madcap for all your help beating down the idiots that came trolling. I mentioned in the last blog that it was funny how many idiots came on Paul's blog to tell us what was what but you didn't see a single Pred fan in Bill's thread gloating!! That's "CLASS"!!!

So...if addendums can be added is there a way to lessen the bonus money and spread it out so as not to hamstring the Predators in the first 4 years? I know that the current CBA says that contracts are non-negotiable, but could some bonus alleviating (or re-working) be added or just NMC's and NTC's?
- HardCorePredFan316

I don't think so. I think if you match, the monetary terms remain unchanged. It's just some of the other stuff that can be fiddled with.

Damn skippy...I've wanted to have Cola (there is that better) even before the whole Suter/Weber debacle. He is a solid dman with a reasonable contract. Might not put up a ton of numbers but he is formidable in the Corsi and Player Usage Charts.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Epp or Bousquet ask for the NTC or NMC...I picture Poile saying "Pi$$ off" much like Chef Ramsey would say on Hell's Kitchen while throwing a puck from his desk at the doorway in which Epp or Bousquet are standing..hehe

Nope, that would be altering an existing term. Contract length, base, bonuses and the timing of those bonuses will all be dictated by the terms agreed to in the offer sheet. Not entirely positive what NHL standard player contracts look like but I would suspect they probably cover those basic items, anything over and above those core terms could be negotiated and tailored prior to signing the actual contract but the SPC would likely have to stay as agreed to in the offer sheet.

What kills me is how HB's own Bill Meltzer, and all of the really ultra-super-smart and business-savvy Flyers fans are predicting bankruptcy for the Preds because of the Weber deal.

Like a bunch of billionaires would impulsively match the offer sheet without thinking about long-term business ramifications.

Boy, Pens fans are right: Flyers fans are a bunch of freaking sore losers!

Sounds good to me. I think a vet paired with Klein would work out great.

That's where Gill comes in. Shadow him and learn from the master. Ultimate respect for Gill. Not the fastest skater by any means but he rarely gets caught out of position. Hard on the body, and clears the front of the net like a bull dozer. His abilities on the ice will open up Josi's offensive game.

I’ll stick with Sam Carchidi for my Flyer news.

Gotta say, that's the first time I've ever heard anyone say that, Flyers fans included.

There's a reason he was covering high school sports before he somehow got assigned to the Flyers.

Thanks for the laugh.

Love the blog title Paul. Also, great points and thanks for the Offer Sheet match research and info. I knew there weren't many that had been matched but had no idea what the real number was.

You know Paul is a native Philadelphian and still holds a special place for the Flyers, right? He and Sam go back a very long way so I doubt your criticism and snide laugh means much to Paul or anyone else here.

EDIT: Oh snap, I thought this was the Flyers thread tab. Anyways, I don't know what you expected looking at a Flyers perspective blog/thread.

I hope someone cranks those two idiots right in the face if they ask for a NTC/ NMC...

Also, that moron Darren Dreger claims he thought Nashville would match, but the guy's a complete tool. He was on video on TSN telling everyone why he thought they wouldn't match. The guy is less than useless.

The one guy who said publicly in the media that the Preds would match was Mike Gillis, Canucks GM, and some media buffoons were saying he was 'self-serving' and essentially was blowing hot air. He was the one guy I read outside Nashville who broke it down on why Nashville would match. He clearly said before the match that Nashville would match any contract with TERM attached and send a message to its marketplace (which Nashville said explicitly in its statement), which is exactly what happened.

I was hoping the Preds would match. I have to say that since I saw the fan support a couple of years ago when the Canucks played them in the playoffs, that Nashville fans are for real and the support is growing.

That's nice. Sam is still one of the worst if not the worst Flyers reporters.

Agreed!
Absolutely true - Dreger is a tool.
That he did (Gillis) - but few listened. We paid attention here!
And lastly, thanks!

Ouch. But really, you're not going to find the objective comments if all you're looking for over there is a reason to be upset.
