I like Bourdon. I like his physical edge to his game. I like him better then Gustafsson. - MJL
Agreed, the organization gets blasted (rightfully so) for not developing d-men. MAB is 22 and played essentially half a season and already fans want to toss him overboard for draft picks. I just don't understand, it is really baffling. |

I think Briere needs to play with Voracek. Everytime Briere has had success here, esp. post-season, he has played with a playmaking winger (Prospal, Leino...). Voracek is closest to that. Also, balance out Briere's D liabilities.

I'd like to see that also.

You rebuild by trading a 25 year old player in Ryan? - MJL
I don't think they wanted to trade him until he opened his mouth. I think Anaheim would rather keep Bobby Ryan but who knows now.
If they are going to trade Ryan they get Read (who had a good year), MAB/Gus (who can help 3rd pairing), prospect like Laughton or Cousins, and a pick. Thats not a terrible trade. Anaheim is getting more young players back in that deal. |

It depends if a team like Anaheim is ready to go into a rebuild. The Flyers have some prospects to offer with Read and picks. After the Nash trade anything is possible in this league. - stveshdy
the more I look at the Nash trade, I actually think it's not as bad as I thought.
Dubinsky was in Stepan's role last year, but fell into disfavor with the crazy coach, I think Dubinsky is even with Stepan, I just would have liked Howson to get at least one of their better D men instead, I guess Anisimov made it as though they had to take Erixon instead.
If Anisimov scores 30, then it's a much better deal. |

Reviewing who Anaheim has in the top 6 already, I'm not sure they would be interested in another young guy for the 7 spot. |

Very possible. I just think if your Howson you had to get back one of the top 4 defenseman on the roster in the deal. If the Erixon kid pans out then this trade won't look bad. |

Ok, now that we're going around in circles does revisionist history suggest The Schenn's and a #1 would've been a good deal for Weber? Would the Preds have accepted? |

So what do you expect Anaheim would want back? If they ask for Schenn or Couturier its not going to happen. |

I guess that's what made it look like such a steal, that & Dubinsky wasn't being used, we don't have a player as good as Dubinsky that we can just "throw in" & not miss. |

I say Jake stays, unless, yes, you can get Ryan.
I love Jake's game, but to get Ryan, Read isn't enough. - puckhead17
I agree that, right now, Ryan is an improvement over Voracek. But I still view Jake has having tons of potential, so I think the improvement would just be marginal.
Any trade for Ryan involving a winger still doesn't help with our depth along the wings. |

Both my brother-in-law's are diehard NY Ranger fans and they can't stand Dubinsky. They watch every single game and they feel he's not that good of a player. They aren't GM's or executives but I respect their opinions. They usually try to tell me how good all their players are so this says something. |

agreed!!
But Anaheim would want, (I assume), Jake and another positional player, I think for us it's a quality boost, no offense to Jake, but he's not a 30 goal scorer, (yet?) |

Not sure, but reviewing some of their organizational depth, it seems like they are polar opposites of the Flyers. I nice volume of young d-men already on the roster and guys who probably will be ready within the next 2 years. I would assume Murray would be more interested in multiple forwards, possibly not all on the NHL roster already. |

I think Dubinsky is better than that, he's a top 6 forward in my opinion, the way that crazy ass coach is, someone was destined for the doghouse.
He's not great at one thing, but can be like a Steve Ott type, with more offensive talent.
He may just need maturing & the right team/role |

Problem is Suter & Parise had no desire to come here and Weber did problem is Nashville matched. So his blog has no legs to stand on. |

Everyone has their own opinion. Dubinsky is going to get mixed value from everyone. The Rags look like they could be good this year but things change from year to year. The Flyers still have plenty of time before the summer is out to upgrade the team. |

For Voracek + another player on the NHL roster, I'm not sure I do it.
I agree it's a boost, but we're also making another part of the roster weaker and still have not addressed depth on the wings. Not sure I see it as that significant of an upgrade - I'd stay put. |
