WPG feel they are close to being a plyoff team and they may be right, so they need help at C right away to let bogo loose...just my read on it of course.
- isaiah520

Every team is looking for a franchise center as bad as a franchise defenseman... Good thing we have three

Just say no to JayBo. He has a cap hit of $6,680,000 and is signed for two more years. That's the last thing we need right now.

2 years, not 14 as in Weber. Timmonen off books next summer, not really a long term deal

I agree. If he was in his last year of his deal, and the price was right, I'd think about it.

Second line center......maybe they'd do read, bourdon, a 1st and a 2nd. Instead of 2nd line center
- Just5

I was thinking along the same line since Read can play center. As much as I like the guy and his contract, he's going to be on the third line this year. And with Bourdon, we already have a logjam of 6th/7th defensemen. Gustaffson is still waiver exempt; however, Bourdon isn't so I could see him being placed in package.

If Anaheim accepted that trade I'd definitely be happy but I'm not so sure they'd do it.

That's too much for Ryan in my opinion.

Big problem with Bouwmeester is that Calgary is demanding a high return, in addition to the big cap hit.

Bogosian is likely to be very expensive as well, but he's got massive upside.

Yes, and I'm looking forward to having Timonen's cap hit being gone, especially for next summer which has a few interesting free agents. So I rather not replace it with a similar cap hit unless it's for a good player we have signed for a few years.

That's too much for Ryan in my opinion.
- MJL

Really? I guess I view Bourdon as expendable since we have a number of other similar defensemen. I like Read a lot but Ryan will go above and beyond his production. As with the picks, I think we are pretty damn young at this juncture so they aren't as valuable as they would have been a couple years ago.

But I can see where both of you are coming from in each of your posts.

Would you go Read, MAB and 2013 1st for Ryan?

Think Calgary has added D-men, thought they would move JayBo at a very reasonable price

JBo's cap hit won't hurt so much over the next two years as we a guaranteed to not have Weber and also likely to see Kimmo go after this year. I just wait til the deadline tho. Calgary is going to be poopy. We'll be in a better position then.

They have defensemen, but so far the reported asking price for Bouwmeester has been that for a near elite defenseman

MAB ,ay be expendable, but he could bring in picks later on if need be. No need just to "throw him in". HE's a pretty solid 3rd line DMan.

Two things. I don't view any player as expendable. No such thing. An asset is an asset. Secondly, regardless of how young the Flyers are. Doesn't in any way lessen the value of draft picks. Especially first round draft picks.

I like Ryan. But I don't know if I would pay the price for him. And with the situation as it is. I think they start by asking for Schenn or Couturier. And that's a no go for me.

It's similar compensation that the Rangers traded for Nash since the Rangers got back a 3rd and another player.

It's about whether the player meets that Cap hit. On the defensive side of the puck, he is not a defensive shut down defender. On the offensive side he is not a top puck mover or point producer from the back end. And his Cap hit does hurt because it prevents you from doing other things.

Schenn for Ryan would have to be straight up and that won't happen.

Sounds a bit like Carle. But in my opinion a much more skilled Carle. Yes it is a big cap hit, but I feel Flyers need anothe D-man, especially one who plays 25-30 minutes a game, as we have a few D-men who have had surgery

I would be on board with adding Ryan and JayBo. I know JayBo isnt regarded real highly anymore, but he was a damn good D-man for Florida, he is only 29. His offense has been minimal with Calgary but he has scored 8-9 goals a couple times on the power play with Fla. in the past, he plays huge minutes. He is not Weber but if added without subtracting any D-men then it is a very deep solid group

- flyhoc

$6.68M cap hit for JayBo. Let that sink in for a minute.

By comparison, Shea Weber is getting a little over $1M more per season, and he's the best d-man in the league. JayBo is, well...not.

And for your $6.68M cap hit, all you get is about 6-8 goals a year, 20 or so assists, and a big body that plays softer than Matt Carle on his worst day.

No. Thank. You.
